Dennis, 62, is sinking the millions he made with McLaren, whose drivers include world champion Lewis Hamilton, into a new firm, McLaren Automotive. He believes it will create the best sports car in the world, outclassing Ferrari and Lamborghini.
The MP4-12C — which will be formally unveiled on Wednesday — is a small, wedge-shaped two-seater with a high-revving V8 engine, a seven-speed gearbox, a carbon-fibre chassis and “gullwing” doors that open upwards, not outwards.

It looks like Ferrari 430 had one night stand with Audi R8 and this was the result.

Or a three-way between a Koenigsegg, a widebody kit and a R35 Skyline

Bottom line it isn't anything new or fresh... It had better perform better than anything else out there.

Isn't this the P11 project -- which was rejected by Mercedes as a mid-engine follow-up to the Mercedes-Mclaren SLR?
My point is this.. they've probably already been working on this car for waay too long.
I wish Mclaren well with this -- obviously the Mclaren F1 Supercar was a tour De Force; so I would love to see them have another successful supercar --
but if they wish to take on the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini; they will have to substantially up the speed of their development cycle.
While I appreciate Uncle Ron trying to take the Mclaren-Ferrari F1 battle to the streets -- If Ron was targeting Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360 and F430;
Well, Ferrari has already moved on from that & is ready to debut a car which makes even the F430 Scuderia seem a bit dated.
Ferrari 458 Italia
..
this car revs to 9000 rpms!!

Good luck Mclaren.

I don't suppose we'll see a Ferrari road-going KERS-like system? ...Well, or Mercedes for that matter.
Given we have Hybrids for every other imaginable thing by now, I'm surprised we don't have it in supercars. ...Not the "Hybrid" part for mileage, but rather some kind of push-for-power system. Could be small like the F1 cars... light, compact, small total charge for, say, 10-15sec total, and it would recharge easily assuming you did more than go in a straight line.
I suppose this is what Williams is after with their flywheel system and trying to market it out. Theoretically it -could- be an easy add-on for power or stability if it's more of a bolt-on type affair instead of a battery system crammed into everything.
