huh? bitter about what??
sounds like a cop-out ptclause
That he's made a career out of racing cars, and is in general more successful than you. I mean, the way you make completely baseless statements grounded in fallacy. It sounds as if you thought you were in the know by being a driver or having actually driven with him. The post just screams of, "Why didn't they pick me! I beat him one race when I was 3 years older than him!

And your point about Alberquerque is off as well, as they only raced together 8 times, and despite Alberquerque not getting a win, he hammered Summerton on average finish.
And then you go on to say JME didn't beat Atte Mustonen, but he beat him in FR NEC, but not Eurocup.
Then you go on to say that JME had all the seat time, and all the best equipment and teams, His Formula Renault teams were never the best, and it's not like he had a year of testing with an engine manufacturer like a certain driver, and he didn't ever get the best equipment because it was all the same.
And then you go on to say he's Mazda's pet? What a ludicrous statement. If he was a Mazda driver why is he about to jump over to FIL, with the prospects of moving up to IRL? Surely Mazda won't be too happy about that. But the biggest thing is they're running in the same team with the same cars and guess who's winning.
JME knows he has time, because he's earned it. Same with Alexander Rossi. Say what you will about Summerton's lack of money, but a bunch of people on this site have said that he didn't impress, and also didn't endear himself to RLR Anderson, which was a great team that could have taken him to the big leagues. I hope he learned from that experience because he won't last long overseas with that attitude. And I can tell you right now.
I will say this, though. He's a hell of a lot better than Andretti. :shiver:

"Despite his vastly underfunded status, Summerton has also beaten other F1 test/racing drivers and varies great drivers that I won’t mention.
Frank Montagny
Narin Karthikayen
Alex Yoong "
When you say you are not going to mention names usually that means you do not mention names but hey . . .

Sorry, here's another one.
"(because he amazingly NEVER beat any of them, with the exception of Mustonen)"
The word "NEVER" shouted for emphasis in uppercase usually works better if it isn't immeadiately followed by the phrase "with the exception". Typically you might say "almost never" or "rarely" instead.
As I said before, but hey . . .

My goodness, Summerton has perservered through so much hardship while ALL other drivers have had everything handed to them unfairly. Not one of them has an ounce of skill when compared to the god like skills of Jonathan Summerton. And thank god Summerton has the "maturinty" to . . . wait, what the heck is "maturinty"? I just hope these posts are the result of a young Summerton fixated, deluded fan and I hope if Summerton is the choice that he is not 1% as full of himself as this "fan" is full of him because if Summerton is, I will have a very difficult time rooting for him and he will have to get a special helmet and perhaps a cockpit to fit his head. I have never seen the word "clearly" used so often and without any meaning. Please for everybody's well being remove the full size Jonathan Summerton posters from your bathroom, above your bed, beneath your bed, and from inside your "private room". Get new non- Jonathan Summerton sheets, pillow cases, and pajamas (do they have feet? Just curious) and lastly, look into laser removal of the tatoo of full size Jonathan Summerton face from your chest. It will be expensive and painfull but like doing your homework, you will someday thank that stranger on the Speed boards for suggesting this course of action. Oh, and please, please get some sleep.

This heated debate on whose the better American open wheel driver just shows that we do have fans (outside of Placid) that do care for the ladder series guys. We can debate all we want but I'm glad that we're passionate on backing up the ladder guys and wanting them to move up. The ladder drivers in work just as hard (if not harder) then any driver in the world because they have to prove their worthiness to others in the next level.

Now that JR Hildebrand has clinched the title, in my
opinion - he should deserve an FIA Super License.
I will be upset if Hildebrand gets a part-time role
at Indy Car. It will be Indy Car or USF1.
I know that Summerton is now on USF1 minds,
but Hildebrand's forte is also on road courses.
There will be a day that Summerton and
Hildebrand will join forces in USF1 once
Wurz or Loeb step out of the seat. Alex
Rossi is also on our minds. But Peter, Ken:
give Hildebrand a chance.

I concur with Hitokiri2's assessment.

A rising tide floats all boats. It is NOT about the comparison of one against the other, but more the possibilities for JR, Summerton and Edwards all to move upward and onward. They all have shown open wheel talent and if they were euro's they'd all be on their way. But in our country 16 year old kids get driver development contracts in Nascar, not OW. These guys will succeed in spite of being Americans because of their talent. Don't be surprised if they are off to Europe. For OWR, it is the land of opportunity.
