It "looks" no better than the Xbox version from 2001. I think I'll wait for the 360 or PS3 version.

Which won't be out until Mid-2010.

It's codemasters, so I've no doubt it'll be a solid simulation. ...The heavier console versions are supposed to have the entire 2009 schedule including the to-be-seen last round.
Some years ago in ToCA Race Driver 3 (their last title with F1 cars), Williams gave license for the BMW-engine models of the time and the result was ... uh... really good (but insanely hard) racing. For convenience, the grand tour races were 10 laps but did include a mandatory pitstop, local yellows and black flags, and an insane damage system. ...As in, you don't brake correctly and slame someone and your front wing dies, or you lock wheel-within-chassis, turn out of it and you'll spin out to your doom.
It had flying tires, but no flying springs. Let's see if they fix that.

Supposedly the game is sponsored by Cosworth Engines; with supposed half developed KERS also in the game, as well as 'Spank Max' and 'Bernie's Divorce' minigames. There's even an Iphone application that allows you to get last minute penalties hours after the race is actually over.

There's a thread about this in the simulations forum.

It's codemasters, so I've no doubt it'll be a solid simulation. ...Codemasters race games are usually considered arcade amongst the simulation community.
Grid was good & felt better than the older games but it still felt more arcade than sim, I heard a couple drivers mention that grip levels in Grid were way off reality & that it was far easier to oversteer & hold it than in reality.

Grid did sadden me, I admit. Too short, too varied, grip ranging from absurd to impossible. I can't recall spinning out in anything but the freestyle drift events while trying to overdo it. ToCA 3 I will stand by though. I remember it taking me days just to survive a first lap in the Williams series without running the car off the track, not launching correctly, etc etc.. Also solid online play. I think they just wanted to dumb down Grid so more people could randomly pick it up.
Honestly, since it's the official F1 license they have, we don't have much of a choice. Polyphony Digital might have rights to run the F2007 in their coming titles and there'll surely be a series, but it still won't have the right feel without everyone there.
...I'm far too lazy to piece together the better PC sims so my gaming existence is limited to what the shiny packages give me to put in the ugly boxes next to my TV.

I don't think this will be a typical Codemasters game. It sounds like they're really focusing on making a more realistic game.
