Is it that hammer in my head that hurts so much? Thanks for the support guys, I thought it was just reality programming on SPEED that made it hurt so much.
Does Foreign event coverage purchased from British F3 or DTM really cost more than having a crew of mindless americans follow a tow truck all over Chicago and listen to some Millionaire whine about the danger or the value of his new truck? I can't watch that stupid stuff.
SPEED I'm glad your demographic spends more money on weed than on personal hygiene. Thanks MTV for creating the two guys sitting on the Castrol couch waiting for the sludge to fall. They've been watching SPEED reality programming waiting to change the channel when racing came on. I think I can actually hear the collective channels click at 2 AM central; me turning SPEED on and the stoners turning it off.

It's actually a factor of cost and number of viewers.
Generally European racing progamming is offered out at a fairly expensive rate, and with very restrictive conditions. The ratings often don't offset the cost.
Problem with reality programming, is it's generally dirt cheap to produce, and usually generate good size viewerships. In many cases, product placements/promotional considerations contribute to the cost of production. This makes them highly profitable.

You mean this is scripted and shot with actors and not really real? Next somebody is going to tell me Pinks is fake racing.

Those numbers were published by Jim Liberatore.
Is he back at SPEED? I thought they fired him years ago in a dispute over reality progrsmming.

No, he's not back.
The numbers as published were valid.

Jacked, Wrecked, Dangerous Drives, Pimp my Ride, Tuner Transformation, Unique Whips, all cool shows if your seven years old. I guess you can program more minds with these shows and advertising. Probably the same reason Ice Road Truckers is on THE HISTORY channel. What other Award winning stuff is in the works??

Well you know this really gets on my nerves... I am one of the stars in this series and we worked very hard for the show. I think that you are being pretty simple minded by thinking this station should only show what the few of you want. Now I am a NASCAR and racing fan just as much as the next guy, and I realize this station is about DRIVING. it represents all types of driving. Be it NASCAR, F1, Rally, Dirt track or occupational. So I thank you in advance for NOT watching my show. You are not the people we want to see it, maybe be in it.
Yawn. My family thanks you for making shows like this -- I spend more time with them instead of watching TV

I have seen references to ratings numbers throughout this thread. It seems like we may have to believe that the numbers tell us that reality programming works. Racing at 2 AM to 4 AM probably isn't that appealing to your MTV skaters.
I can see why Nascar is now so high on SPEED's list of reality programming positives. It's as close as we can get to scripted "reality programming"... "it's generally dirt cheap to produce, and usually generate good size viewerships. In many cases, product placements/promotional considerations contribute to the cost of production. This makes them highly profitable" . But please look at your own description of SPEED on your website. You don't deliver the described product to racing fans anymore. That's why we keep responding the way we do. We expect you to deliver what you promised. Silly us.

I thought I was done but Martydomspeed just keeps on rolling...
:sigh
Prove the Liberatore numbers are valid, Martydomspeed.
You just don't get it do you? You claim stuff you post is true. Prove it.
Were you there when Liberatore was quoted?
Any chance Liberatore was being facetious and demonstrating absurdity by being absurd?
Any chance you might explain in detail the 3,000,000 vs. 10,000 viewers (a week) Liberatore referred to that you originally quoted and claim valid?
You haven't yet and I don't think you can prove anything you have written is true.
Time for you to put up -or- shut up.
Time to prove your claims for viewer numbers you insist are true from a guy who last worked for Speed five years ago.
And just a bit of advice bro, remember the old adage - In God we trust, everyone else bring data.
And that means objective data vs. your belief in something you read and can't even link to.
Good luck.
