After the Coke Zero 400 I had never been so disgusted in my life. Thousands of fans cheered as Kyle walked away from a totaled race car. And at this forum and the NASCAR.com forum I read countless comments about people happy to see Kyle get wrecked. Guys I know Kyle isn't the most popular driver but don't be happy when a guy wrecks like that. If it had been one of your favorite drivers taking those hits I don't think many of you would have liked to see that. So please just try to respect all the drivers even if you don't like them because to see anyone wreck like Kyle did is very frightening for the driver and for their team and family to have to watch.
I agree, as a Jeff Gordon fan I have seen many races where Jeff will get in a hard crash and people will cheer before he even put the window net down. I dont care how much you hate a driver, NEVER cheer until you know for a fact that he is ok. I personally dont cheer for anyone getting in a wreck, but there are a select group of people who find joy in that, and at times it really gets out of hand. NoviVespa, people where cheering that Busch crash way before he got out, that can't be denied.

I agree. I must admit that I saw the race this morning on Tivo. My wife and I replayed the ending at least 3 times. They were cheering the fact that he got wrecked. I have to say, that both of us were really disappointed.
And I'm a Jeff Gordon fan. And Kyle Busch has certainly gotten the ire of Jeff and me. But Kyle earned a new fan today. He was going for the win. Maybe it was a racing deal but I think there should be a bit more movement at the end. And Tony's comments after the race were a bit disengenuous to me. He knew what was going to happen by not changing lines or moving up a bit. Jimmy was going to go with him so even if he drifted up he still would have won.
Also - let's stop the unnecessary high-fiving of Stewarts victory and how he's an owner/driver. He's in Hendrick equipment through and through. If I were Jeff or Junior - I wonder how long the info sharing is going to continue.

Tony was already committed to the line that he was in. Things just happend way to quickly for Tony to be able to react. And I don't get how you can say you are now a Kyle fan because he went for the win but yet Tony went for the win and you say he should have tried to move out of Kyle's way.
He is an owner driver. And so what if he is in Hendrick equipment. Haas drivers were always in Hendrick equipment and could barely make races. And looking at how Jr is running I doubt Tony is using much if any of the information from the 88 team. On the other hand though Jr said last week that he used some of the notes from the 39 and 14 teams for the NH race.

I'm just glad he's ok. That head on into the wall part of the wreck looked eerily like Dale Snrs fatal wreck to me and I for one was cheering that he was able to get out and walk away from it.
And you will always get some who cheer when a driver wrecks, it does NOT mean they all want the driver hurt, and you will also always hear cheering when any driver walks away from a bad wreck. Last night was no exception.
As far as the wreck itself I think Kyle *could* have won it if he'd just held his line and not tried to thwart Tony, I don't think Tony would have had time to pass him. Get along side him, yeah, but I think Kyle would still have come out ahead at the line. Guess we'll never know though.
As for the race itself... the biggest things for me was just how boring the overall race felt to me compared to Daytona races in the past (last lap aside), and the mind blowing sight of the ENTIRE backstretch being empty.
How much longer can Nascar execs breathe with their heads in all that sand I wonder.

TonyFan: you're only committed to a line if you have no where else to go - three-wide for example. He could have moved up a bit and Jimmie would have gone with him.
I think I'm a Busch fan now cuz he doesn't points race. He goes for it. Yesterday was no exception but he got wrecked. Fine - I'll move forward. But Tony's comments irked me. Never once has he ever shown any regret over how he raced or won.

I respect Busch as a driver, but off the track and in front of the cameras he drives me insane.
The main problem with the move he made is that he came across Tony's hood, basically the two lines collided and they just ran out of real estate. It was a gutsy move and well worth it. If he had won, we'd be talking about the insane block that shot him to victory. Tony held his line, and I would have done the same thing.

He made a good move in going to his trailer rather than make a rash statement he wold have to eat later. Once more discretion won out... it was not a running sulk this time Like in the past it might have been just a weary retreat for a wounded combatant. Smart move again KB I am gonna wind up a fan before all this is over and I wold have never thought that would happen lol...
good job kb
