I don't know about the FOX broadcast, because I was at the track. The crowd was of a decent size but as usual, most of them packed up and started to leave at the end of the GP.
There were far fewer Euros in attendance. One can always spot the foreigners cuz they wear funny shoes.
I crossed the bridge between turns 3 and 4 with Guy Coulon during the lunch break on Saturday. He was going shopping in the midway. A very slight man with a bit of Einstein about him. He smiled when I said 'allo.
The vendor participation was definitely down this year. Not that it mattered much to me as I wasn't looking for a major purchase as I have done in years past.
Traffic was a breeze. If you're caging it, the bus system is very convenient. I've used it the past two years but this year I was able to ride my bike right in just as easily. Maybe the lower attendance had something to do with it, but even with larger numbers I'd hazard a guess this most recent setup would work quite well.
The fact that this was a major holiday weekend and a major racing event made the police presence even more daunting as one rode the roads in the vicinity of the track. I was gladdened to see that most of the people pulled over were behind the wheel and not astride a bike.
Biggest laugh/cry over tragedy averted? The start of the Superbike race where the safety car parked itself on the racing line just over the blind crest in turn 1. Even better was the Nicky Hayden's blowup at an AMA/DMG official in pit lane as they tried to sort it all out and even better than that was some technician's pushing the button putting it on the trackside Jumbotrons. The crowd went wild!
