they cant sell tickets to this race so they are taking 35,000 seats out so it doesnt look like a ghost town, and the promoter wants to blame the fota-fia fight of the last few months for it....

pretty sure its because no one likes your track pal

Also:

Second race this year in Spain and their national hero is dragging his Renault around the back.

Whenever a car closes on another they hit the pits to change strategy because these diffusers nullified the overtaking aero package.

The economy sucks in Europe too.

I think the politics are a turnoff.

The street course on the waterfront. Not the purpose built farther inland that moto gp uses.

It could also be because nobody likes the ticket prices. Who's gonna blow $500 - $1000* or more a head to watch a race when you're worried about paying the bills and whether or not you're going to have a job to go back to on Monday?

Once again, Bernie's pricing the fans out of Formula One and there aren't enough rich idiots to take their places.

*(Note: I checked for the Spanish Grand Prix on GPTicketshop.Com. The cheapest seats were in Grandstand T on Sunday, for €215. The most expensive were in Grandstand D, on the start finished line for €587 for the weekend. Sunday Standing Room Only tickets were €149 for the weekend and €141 for Sunday. Them's a big wad of money. And that's just to get in the gate. It doesn't include transportation, lodging, meals, etc. At which point, it's a HUGE wad of money.)

The economy is down, Alonso is not winning races in the Renault, Jenson Button is running away with the championship in the BrawnGP car, tickets too expensive, the street course isn't as great for sightlines versus the Barcelona circuit....

Bernie is going to churn through several circuits.

Every major circuit now is having trouble paying:

Melbourne hard time finding funds with entertaining aussie politicking
Malaysia government tired of paying and not making a cent
China can't fill the stands, considering dropping
Turkey can't fill the stands, considering dropping
England (Silverstone and Donnington Park)
Canada just dropped lol
USGP dropped
Germany (Hockenheim AND Nurburgring)
Belguim has a history
Toyota confirmed Fuji has been a bust

There have always been a "core" set of circuits to keep the brand and image alive and in the minds of your everyday common motorist to the hardcore F1 fan. They think Monaco, Silverstone, Suzuka, Spa, and Monza. At one time, the old Hockenheimring and the Nurburgring have been included in that list but Bernie allowed Tilke to carve them all up, with Hockenheim being in the name of safety.

All the other tracks are basically "open slots" in where Governments can go racing for a decade or so, so they can bring glory to their great 3rd world nation state. Once they see the bill, they throw their arms up in the air, time and time again. And Bernie finds someone else willing to spend the money to lose money.

The ticket prices are just too high and Valencia just seems like a boring track. The ticket prices are ridiculous just about everywhere.

I went to Canada last year and my 3 day tickets were $400 each for a medium priced grandstand ticket. I think they had 100,000 people there and they still couldn't make a profit. I thought Indy had the right idea on prices ($25 for Friday & Saturday, $105 for Sunday in one of the best areas to sit), but that's definitely not going to work with Bernie's $30 million fee.

I believe a three day grounds pass was $60 I want to say $80 honestly, but am not sure. Stands were so empty you could sit anywhere.

Ticket prices for most sports in Europe have gone up, it isn't just an F1 problem.

There's been a lot of discussion recently about the high price of tickets for football & rugby games for example.

Another example is Tennis, The ticket prices for the men's final on centre court at Wimbledon tomorrow are over £100 ($163). It was reported on the news Friday that Mens final ticket's were been sold for as much as £18,000 ($30,000) because Andy Murray was doing so well up untill he got knocked out in yesterday's Semi-Final.

The price of an F1 ticket is high & I've no doubt that a part of that is the sanctioning fee the circuit promoters/owners have to pay Bernie. However I don't think thats the whole reason as high ticket prices seems to be a problem for a lot of world-wide sporting events thesedays.
