NASCAR has way too many important people to just put 5 in the HOF. I agree put all of them in.

They'll all get their shot, but if we let them in 25 at a time we're going to end up with NASCAR Hall of Famer Geoff Bodine

I think it is so sad Davey allison will never be eligible for the HOF. He was one of the best

Why wouldn't Davey ever be eligible? Did I miss something?

I think they said for drivers that they need to be active for 10 or more years, which would count Davey and Alan Kulwicki out (Davey 87-93, Kulwicki 85-93). I would have to imagine that they would make some sort of exemption especially for Kulwicki, considering the impact he made as an owner/driver.

Cougar You are correct. They do have to have been active 10 or more years. Someone did not have to be in the sport for 10 years to have a big impact

I agree, for the first ever HOF they should have more people than 5. Maybe not 25 but I would think they could have put 10-12 in this first time. Then take 5 per year the next 3 years and then drop it down to 3 per year or something. For the person that said people would get in that's not deserving if they did take all 25 I give you all of the following names that should eventually be in the HOF IMO.....

Marvin Panch
Fred Lorenzen
Wendell Scott
Bobby Isaac
Buddy Baker
Sam Ard
Ricky Rudd
Bill Elliott
Tim Richmond
Terry Labonte
Harry Gant
Jack Ingram
Mike Stefanik
Jerry Cook
Ernie Irvan

Personalities:

Harold Kinder
Jack Roush
Barney Hall
T Wayne Robertson
Harry Melling
Humpy Wheeler
Bob Jenkins
Ernie Elliott

That's just off the top of my head too. I'm sure when you include other important officials, newly retiring drivers, crew chiefs, drivers from other series in NASCAR, etc...you won't run out of candidates too quickly. Let's assume those 25 guys will be the guys that go in each of the first 5 years. Just with the names I listed above it would take an additional 5 years just to get them in. And I'm sure I'm forgetting a good 20-30 that really need to be in the HOF eventually as well as it stands right now.

im sorry but how did they leave Rusty Wallace off the list for the 1st 25. His stats alone put him better then atleast 3 drivers nominated. He has been retired for more then 3 years also so i dont understand how he was left off

Stats.
1989 Cup Champ
55 Wins
36 Poles
349 top 10's
8th all time wins

Thanks for that! I remember seeing that, but didn't make the connection for Davey or Alan.

well i made my votes...

Dale Earnhardt, Becuase he was the one of a kind driver that did anything to win, and is currently the only driver to have matched pettys record of 7 championships.

Bill France Sr. , Well there wouldnt even be a nascar without this guy he deserves to be in the first class

Red Byron, Becuase he was the first ever nascar champion

Junior Johnson, because without him nascar wouldnt be about wins...

Richard Petty, The undisputed King of nascar PERIOD!!!!

those were mine too
