Didn't Bubba the Love Sponge take Adderall and Claratin-D, take a drug test, then have the results say he was positive for methamphetamines? I've heard a TON of people say that its very possible a combination of these two drugs could result in a positive test. The only ones I've heard come out raging that there's no way its possible are NASCAR and their hired doctor.
By the way, I am very disappointed in NASCAR's PR assassination of Mayfield's character. Ramsey Poston seems to be taking every opportunity to take a cheap shot at him or his attorney's. Just check out the latest cheap shot.
NASCAR questions Mayfield's urgency to get back to track: NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Jeremy Mayfield's absence from the track Friday called into question the argument his attorneys used in requesting a preliminary injunction on NASCAR's drug suspension. Here's what Poston said: "Jeremy and his legal team asked for a preliminary injunction for emergency relief because it was necessary apparently to come and compete here in Daytona. Apparently he’s not here and it appears as if he’s not going to compete this weekend which would raise some questions on how much of an emergency it really was."
Hey you knee-capping buffoon, the ruling was handed down 24 hours before your deadline to enter. Mayfield didn't exactly have the resources to have a specific Daytona car loaded in the hauler with the engine running waiting for him, in case he MAYBE got the ruling in his favor. Its not like Penske in IndyCar where he could have all of Helio's stuff in Long Beach waiting for him to jump on an airplane. I'm pretty certain Mayfield will have his stuff ready for Chicago next week, but giving him less than 24 hours to be there, then cheap-shotting him for not being in Daytona is just another case of NASCAR's character assassination of someone they don't like. Just ask Tim Richmond. Oh wait.....

I wish it had been someone else instead of Mayfield that "outted" NASCAR's drug policy and procedure. On the long list of whiners, he's right up towards the top.
Bravo for the judge though. Somewhere along the line NASCAR needs to open up about some of the rules of the sport. In this case, why all the secrecy regarding the policy and testing program? Their fear of losing control and micromanaging everything just bit them here and I hope the wound hurts. There has never been any real justification for many of NASCAR's rulings and like many, I too am fed up with them.
Sorrowfully, I've been a racing fan and sometime participant for 45 years and I can't give up the addiction. It would be nice if they could just occasionally act like they actually did respect the fans and participants instead of just paying lip service to us.
"The new HoF shows our commitment to the fans," says BF.................. yeah, right ...........................
It would show better commitment if they were just honest in their rulings.

'BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE' STUNT SHOWS MAYFIELD MAY BE TELLING THE TRUTH
Date: Monday, June 15 @ 19:59:50 CDT
Topic: NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES
Tampa, FL - Syndicated radio talk show host 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has cast a bit of doubt on NASCAR's drug testing policy. Most people affiliated with the sport of NASCAR, including myself, doubted Jeremy Mayfield's story when he was busted for failing NASCAR's drug policy three weeks ago. Mayfield swore up and down that he was innocent when the rest of main stream media and race fans across the country called him a drug addict. Now, it seems he may be telling the truth!
Heard on his syndicated morning radio show in major markets, and across the country on Sirius/XM channel 101 'The Howard Stern Network, 'Bubba The Love Sponge' wondered aloud if there could have been any truth to Mayfield's claims that a combination of drugs triggered the Sprint Cup driver's positive test for Methamphetamine.
Mayfield claims an over-the-counter allergy medication and another drug which was prescribed by his physician to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) caused the failed test. So, the infamous shock jock did what a shock jock does...he digested the same drugs Mayfield has claimed were the cause of his failed drug test. And guess what? He came away with the same results Mayfield did.
Bubba digested Claritin-D and Adderall, the same drugs Mayfield claimed to have taken, and then took a drug test just as Mayfield had weeks earlier. When the results came in, Methamphetamine showed as a positive just as it did for Mayfield even though Bubba never came within five-hundred miles of the illegal drug.
Now, one has to wonder, is Mayfield telling the truth or is NASCAR's drug test flawed? 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has at least given NASCAR good reason to take another look at it's screening process, and he has also given Mayfield some powerful evidence in his quest to challenge the mighty sports organization in a court of law. - John 'Captain Thunder' Nevins -

When this is all over (providing that the outcome is in Mayfield's favor) there probably will be a massive defamation of character lawsuit launched against NASCAR, one NASCAR won't win. They should be telling guys like Poston to shut the hell up but sadly (or depending on your POV, hilariously) they just keep making stupid statements.
What's that old expression? "Better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." That's something NASCAR should take to heart if they don't want this to bite them in their rear ends down the road.

one thing big bill the bully showed every one is you will do things his way, right or wrong. any ? refer to bill rule #1 and do not want to know what the rules are. in any other corporate company, this is called monopoly and is illegal, not just the drug issue but all the fines and suspensions that are different for different teams, the courts are going to step in on all this crap and maybe tell nascrap to be consistant with what you do or get out of the pond

I said weeks ago that I had 3 Law Enforcement Officers that told be that Clriton and Addarall could cause a False positve for Meth. That was backed up by a Lab tech at my local Hospital that runs alot of Drug Tests for the Police Department. Nascar is beyond Screwed they are being rolled into the delievery room and the doc is suting up to catch the kid that is being ready to pop out. All that is going to be discussed is HOW MUCH IS THIS SCREW UP GOING TO CoST THEM.

I agree with the last 3 posts wholeheartedly. NASCAR needs to shut the heck up. They are serving up a massive payday for Jeremy Mayfield. You know, Bubba the Love Sponge is a huge NASCAR fan. He knows exactly what's going on and if he tested positive for it, I think NASCAR's case is about to take a dirt nap.
Finally, the judge said that more harm would be done to Mayfield with the suspension than with NASCAR would incur with the testing process being ruled flawed. I think that with the two car owners who said they wouldn't put him in the car because of his "suspected" use, they have given Mayfield all the ammunition he needs to win this case.
And this Ramsey Poston guy is the biggest idiot of them all. How could anyone expect Mayfield to field a car this weekend? What a bufoon!

There are other stock car racing series, so NASCAR doesn't hold a monopoly on the genre.
They are the santioning body for one group of racing series, and as such, they have the absolute right to set the rules at events they sanction. If you don't like their rules, race in another series, or watch another series. There are options.

Poston should have kept his mouth shut, or at least expressed his displeasure at the situation more diplomatically, but look at it this way.....
Mayfield filed a motion in Federal Court asking for an emergency hearing because he would suffer "immediate and irreparable" harm if he weren't allowed to race at Daytona. A harm that couldn't be addressed at a later date by money damages. The Judge agreed that not being allowed to race at Daytona (immediate - remember that element) would cause such harm.
He was granted the injunction because of the immediacy of the harm, then doesn't even bother showing up at the track - with or without his team. At least play the game and show up, talk to the media, pretend to look for a ride, something so you're not slapping the Judge in the face.
How well do you think that sits with the Judge, who was called away from other things for this emergency TRO hearing?
There are two sides to everything... like I said, I completely disagree with the comments Poston made, but I can see why they're annoyed by his being missing from the track - nothing kept Jeremy from showing up without his team if it was so important as to get a TRO over it.
