A federal judge lifted the suspension of Cup driver Jeremy Mayfield which means he can race at Daytona. NASCAR said they were disappointed with the ruling but would honor the court's wishes. Do you agree with the court's decision to un-suspend Mayfield?

Yes. IMHO, JM is fighting way too hard with $$$ he doesn't have just to be trying to beat a drug wrap. Based on what I have heard, I tend to give JM the benefit of the doubt.
I think NASCAR overplayed their hand by going public with this and it may come back to bite them big-time. NASCAR could have, silently tested Jeremy every week for a period of time for a second positive. *IF* he is using the alleged drug, based on its extremely addictive nature, he will almost certainly test positive again.

Heck they may as well let all drug user in NASAR. He failed multiple drugs test including one by an independant agency. I guess a drug user wins this one

I have to side with JM. No one in their right mind would fight this hard if they were guilty. If JM was guilty he could have undergone rehab and be back in NASCAR before the end of the year.

What I don't agree with is that NASCAR now has everyone so "afraid" of JM that no one is willing to back the guy. Innocent - NASCAR - until PROVEN guilty. I am not a JM fan, however, I've run drug tests on people and there ARE false positives. I agree with the federal judge though in that given the amount of drugs that NASCAR says was in JM's system - he'd be a zombie and other's would be stepping up and backing up NASCAR. I challenge NASCAR to state that they will not hold any ill will against any owner who wanted to hire JM to drive for them.

you don't understand mayfield, he leaves a wake of destruction whereever he goes, penske, evernhame etc, a pattern has formed. nascar had to act on the test results, they HAD to, do you think they wanted to??? I don't, nascar stood to have a lot of negative press by coming out with this. lets also keep in mind for those that have read nascar's substance abuse policy that they have the right to disclose immediately the drug that was tested positive for. nascar did not do this, IMO they did it to provide some cover for jeremy to quietly take car of the problem, instead they got spit on, and would have likely been alot better off if they had just gone public with the details right away.
I hear all the comments about not having a banned list etc, this is to protect the drivers and over them a much more broad latitude to deal with any pain or medical issues, IE they are not looking to just go out and bust people!!!! basically if the driver can show he is prescribed something for a medical issue or needs to take something, nascar's policy is such to allow for that, not having a list of banned substance is actually allowing the drivers MORE latitude, thats the truth that none will come out and say, this thread may not last long, seems speed doesnt' have much of a stomach for controversy

3 PM has rolled around, last call for entries, no Mayfield in sight at Daytona.

The judge said he had serious issues with the nascar testing. hell, I am terminally ill and sure that some of my meds would give all sorts of false reads under nascar tests, does that make me a drugy?

4 teams turned him down. Not a big surprise.

Four teams who already had drivers lined up for this weekend and were at the track. Why would they adjust their plans for Jeremy?
