My love of sports car racing screwed me over at work…

my supervisor came to me with a list this morning. It was a list of catagories of websites I was at. many were work related. However, I spent a lot of time on mulsannescorner, planetlemans, sportscarengineering, speedtv and a few other racing related websites. I didn't get in any major trouble, didn't get fired or nothin...in fact my supervisor didn't really seem to mind. He actually seemed to think it was his fault for not keeping me busy with stuff to do. It bothered him more that the IT department was checking up on us. Guess i'll have to keep the work and the racing seperate for know...unless I can get a job at a race team next summer...hint hint.

Almost did me in a couple of years ago too. I was read the riot act, and have basically scaled in down to almost nothing.
However, they also gave me a lot more to do at work, so I really don't have much time for race surfing any more. LOL!

You're lucky your boss is a nice guy, or possibly this was his nice way to give you a warning.
There are people in my office who spend hours a day on non work related Internet sites and the company is cracking down. One was just placed on probation. The company for months now has been blocking access to non business sites, though it certainly can't catch all of them. For instance, SpeedTV.com is still accessible.
I'm being paid to WORK, not play on the Internet. Non work related sites are off limits for me by choice unless it on my own time, such as lunch hour or after hours.

The major issue wasn't speedtv.com and such. the big issue was one e-mail through school. It refreshes itself every couple minutes. When i leave it open all the time it adds up to a lot of hits. All of the sports car stuff added up but I guess wasn't an issue. Needless to say i didn't check all of the websites today.
