I spoke to a GameStop employee and he said F1 2009 will only be sold at GameStop stores.

No... it's not correct.
1) only the Wii and PSP versions will release in 2009. If you have one of those systems then great but most of us have PS3 and Xbox360. For those systems, the game doesn't come out until 2010. It says that plainly on their website, it also says it on the link you posted. If you look at the video game box, it says PSP on it; Not PS3.
2) The game will be sold at every store. The guy probably didn't know what he was talking about it. Codemasters (the company making the game) has never had a "Gamespot exclusive", and I doubt they will for this game. I've never heard that rumor before, but I can tell you that the FIA (sanctioning body for Formula 1) will not allow that to happen either because they are a world wide body and wouldn't be crazy enough to allow their own game to be sold in only the parts of the world where gamespot stores are.

I have gone to GameCrazy, Walmart, Kmart, Target, Meijer, Best Buy and GameStop websites and the only one of those that has the F1 2009 game on the site is GameStop.
