Porsche are not running a P1 car anytime soon. Audi may return in 10 but will Penske run the

Porsche is well into developing a LMP-1 car. The problem people have is that they all assume it will be run by Penske.
It won't.
There are 3 teams in the running. 2 are ALMS teams and one is from another series.

The rumor of a Ferrari LMP-1 car won't go away. So far Ferrari has not totally denied the rumor so gather from that what you will.

Audi will most probably return to the ALMS fulltime for next season.

Acura is waiting for Audi's decision before committing.

The Grand-Am rumor always rears it's head around the middle of any year. It ain't gonna happen.

Do you have any internal or third-party information on the Porsche P1?

With the FOTA/FIA war of words cooling off, I would think that Ferrari will stay devoted to F1 and not undertake a prototype design. You can probably etch that in stone when a new Concorde agreement is signed.

As for a new Porsche prototype, I think that too is wishful thinking. Porsche seems to be making their money on the GT cars and I think they will continue to do so. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a Porsche LMP1 car running around Sebring. I just think that in this economy it won't happen.

My source tells me that the Porsche LMP-1 has already been on the chassis dyno.

Great news. Can you provide a little more to support that? Rumors are interesting, but I don't like getting my hopes up for just rumors.

Google "Porsche lmp1 2010", and you'll find some stuff

EDIT - Now that I've read some of it, it's either out of date, or very vague

Didn't Champion say they were doing something "different" for 2010?

at the bottom of gordon kirby's latest column was an interesting remark from someone in the ALMS paddock (as a counterpoint to the stuff which originally came out of the Grand-Am paddock)...
