At the big events like ALMS/IRL the last couple years, they've been directing traffic left into Lexington. Kind of a pain since I always take 314 North back to US 30. It'd be a good excuse to eat at Bucks, but they're closed on Sundays.
Anyhoo, GTP, I'm planning to be down there tomorrow. I'll be the fat bald guy with either a Brass Monkey or Mazda T-shirt on. I usually hang out on the hill above the esses, with the occasional hikes to turn 1 and Thunder Valley. I'll also have to wander the paddock a bit.
So…how about that Mid-Ohio race?

Interesting dan, I never had any problems going to 314. Maybe the reason for trying to get people towards lexington is the worry about conflict with the amish population in the area. That is a guess anyways. If it is a concern it shouldn't be . I haven't run into any amish traffic on sunday after irl race anyway. A couple of buggy's on saturday after the race but that was it. Still try hanging to the right exiting the track and you should be able to go right.

It's only happened a couple times, both on the Sunday after IRL. I'll be in the right lane with my right turn signal on, and the send me to the left anyway. If it happens again, I'll just cheat and take Dexter Rd north to 97, and back to 314.
GTP, nice meeting you for 30 seconds. Maybe we can make it a little longer next time.

What did you guys think of the crowds? My dad and I use to go every year to every event but I live in Alabama now so obviously don't get to go anymore. My dad was saying he thought the place was pretty empty but he also was only able to go up late Saturday afternoon.

It seemed like about the typical GA crowd, maybe a little lighter than usual. I'd say it was double the vintage crowd and maybe about 1/4 of the ALMS/IRL crowd. Late Saturday was probably the peak of the weekend.

I think Bucks has been opening on Sundays for the Big events like Indy/ALMS and Superbike.

Grand Am bores me to tears....I try to watch....can't.
Give me ALMS anytime.
I originally hated GA and loved ALMS. But GA grew on me, first when my favorite current driver Alex Gurney got there, and then when I realized a lot of other fantastic drivers are making some REALLY good racing out there.
Unfortunately, ALMS has been getting stale for me with the lack of competition in LMP1 and GT1. However, I am now totally excited about watching Team Corvette go after my beloved Porche and the other fine makes in GT2.
This is going to be great! I'm even rooting for the Vettes!?!?

alms gt2 race as usual looks to be very good this year especially with the vetts. I remember when I was 16 in 70 everyone wanted a vette but me,I wanted a porsche. They didn't run the same class at lemans though so it was tough to say one was better then the other by results, this year should be fun. I also originally hated grand am but have grown to like it a lot. This years midohio race is a great example of what great racing can be.
