Speed is, temporarily halting the Nascar chats, both the Truck series, and the Raceday chats. So, we are looking for help in continuing in an unofficial status. We are also looking to gauge interests in bringing back the Race chats, in an unofficial status, and possibly doing more than just Trucks and Cup.

Comments/Ideas are welcome!

Why did SPEED decide to stop them?

I don't think they got the participation they were looking for.

I tried it once ... But ...

The chat program sucked up all of the resources on my computer ... and it forced me to change the resolution on my monitor ...

That's not good. wink

I did "chat" a few times while watching on-line sim racing broadcasts at a different site. It wasn't a very positive experience.

It was difficult to attend to the race action while watching the chat screen go by. This was a small screen having room for about 20 lines before disappearing. It was difficult to reply to anyone as that comment went by so quickly. It was like being in a room where 50 people are speaking at once. Very difficult to attend to one particular speaker, let alone carry on a conversation. Finally, there were trolls galore, and some folks who just had a few too many and were acting ridiculous.

Yes I agree It's no where need the best program for a chat.

When Repose made a thread on this I tried to direct Repose to a chat that works. I didn't give a link or anything just said pm me but i guess he/she thought I was "advertising" didn't bother with a PM just deleted my post. <shrug> Speed's lose not mine.

Still waiting for that return PM. Have an opinion PM us.

As for the chats, IMO the chats need to be real time, or this forum needs to update in real time. Anything short of that and it becomes frustrating.

Yes there are better chat programs, I have one for my site thats free and its ten times better than anything I have seen. I think the big problem here it that Speed wants to MOD the live chats. In most freeware you cant really MOD the chat.We can MOD our chat but we really dont have that problem. We are a group of Fantasy players and our chat is by invitation. There are many other alternatives, but its hard to make it all apart of the same site.. Real Time chat is the only way to go, if it not real time then its not live chat.
