Kyle Busch has received intravenous fluids following a 70-minute driving stint in the Grand-Am race at Daytona International Speedway. Busch was co-driving with fellow NASCAR driver Scott Speed in the Saturday afternoon race in a car owned by Chip Ganassi. He drove the first stint and headed directly to the care center after turning the car over to Speed. Busch received an IV there as a precautionary measure, then headed back to his motorhome to rest before Saturday night's 400-mile Sprint Cup Series race. He's the defending race winner of NASCAR's Coke Zero 400. He and Speed finished 10th in the Grand-Am race.

For the most part, Speed and Busch ran respectably. Not spectacular but they kept it together

Didn't miss it, although Kyle may have.

That just wasn't part of "the most part" wink

I heard Kyle say that he'd been bugging Chip to let him run the Rolex race but Chip wanted him to start with something "smaller" first. Wonder if today's performance made Chip more or less likely to consider him for the 24?

People ask me all the time, where does he stack up, comparatively?  I’ve seen every great driver drive, I’ve seen every great driver win their championships.  In my mind, this driver, this crew chief, this team is the all time best - bar none.  I saw Petty, I saw Earnhardt, I’ve seen Gordon, I’ve seen Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Terry Labonte, this is the best.”- DW on Jimmie Johnson

like I said, I didn't really catch it all, but they held 10th, so they must've been competitive with the leaders, just too far back to catch up...
J... If I were Chip, I'd have a car for Kyle anytime he asked to play... (and I'd bet he'd be happy to have him)

The duo I'd like to see try Rolex would be JTG's Ambrose and McDowell.

But Chip isn't hurting for talented, experienced drivers to run that race. One bone-headed move and you mess up the whole team, not just yourself.

If memory serves, Jim Johnson drove straight into an immovable object during a prototype stint. It was kind of a bone-headed move in the eyes of many.

He will, of course, be given other opportunities ... for all the same reasons that young Busch will have no problems finding a ride there whenever it makes sense.

It's third car stuff ...

I heard there was a chance we'd see Kyle in Grand-Am again as soon as August, when both series will be at Watkins Glen
