This is going to be a case were the Judge goes NASCAR you failed to Follw a ESTABLISHED chain of custody rules. It also looks real bad for Nascar that they have REVISED the way they are collecting the samples AFTER they suspending Mayfield and then were hit with his lawsuit. Kinda like the Cows got out of the barn now we need to fix the holes in the fence defense. The fact that Now the other drivers are saying they now have to PROVE they are who they SAY THEY ARE makes NASCARS case alot weaker than it was than BEFORE THE INJUNCTION was issued. Put it to you this way Conduct Nascar will have to put everything in BLACK AND WHITE in the Rulebook after this or they will be SCREWED in every case afterwards. Even Chand Knaus would be able to beat them after being caught read handed cheating if it is NOT IN the RULEBOOK after this case.

There have been some reports of people confirming Mayfield’s contention the combination of Claritin-D and Adderall will show a + result for Meth. A less than reliable shock jock is one but there are snippets and medical articles I don’t have a subscription for.

The most damming are legitimate users of Adderall are saying as a matter of fact they will test positive for meth.

an idiot. This isn't about what he had or didn't have in his system. This is about an attorney who just didn't do his job....

It's SOP for the other side to check an opposing expert's credentials. You want to know how often they are paid to testify, find all their published work, no matter how obscure, to try and show inconsistency in their opinion, things like that to try and discredit their opinions when they're on the stand. I can guarantee NASCAR never expected to find this.....

Since I have no reason to doubt a college administrator, at the very least Diehl and his office did not do due diligence when investigating this man. Not good for his firm and his reputation.

Yikes. You don't mislead a Court. Ever.

You can lead them in the way you would like them to go... in fact that IS your job... u don't want 2 be caught lying to them tho.. ha ha.. that would be the no no you were talking about

Meth use aside...

Hasn't NASCAR filed a countersuit based on Jeremy's admitted amphetamine usage? Amphetamines are a banned substance by most sports organizations, and I'm under the impression that NASCAR has also banned them. As a side note, Jeff Burton said the owners had a list of banned substances and if he was confused about something all he had to do was ask, but I am less clear on that point.

Still, it is not in dispute that Jeremy failed to notify NASCAR of his Adderall usage.

Marty's latest column:

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/columns/story?columnist=smith_marty&page=DoorToDoor

"So shocked was the NASCAR industry -- and I mean almost everybody: drivers, owners, crews, media, Daytona brass, administrative assistants, janitors and security guards alike -- that Jeremy Mayfield beat NASCAR in court to earn the right to race while accused of abusing methamphetamine, that I chose to write a blog Thursday about the decision, namely that the sanctioning body's notorious heavy hand may be forced to lighten up as a result.

I was called a homer. Among other things.

That intrigued me. Confused me like the Pythagorean Theorem, too. If you're not crusading for Mayfield here, then you are by default a NASCAR backer. It's like most things, I reckon. If you're not here, you're there. Ain't much middle.

So I solicited more feedback from readers -- not necessarily fans -- regarding their thoughts on the Mayfield ruling and how it may affect the sport moving forward.

I believe it to be a landmark decision. Some don't.

...This decision is now a precedent.

Just what type of precedent, and how dramatic, won't be known for quite some time."

I saw where Jeff Burton said that - I think they had stipulated that there was a list of banned substances for crew members, but not for drivers. Mayfield, as a team owner, would have had possession of that list that his crew wasn't allowed to take, because no one disputed that it was sent out to the teams.
And since he already had a team member suspended, one would think he knew what for, and what was on that list. I think each team was supposed to test their employees before NASCAR did too, but I'm not 100% positive, but I vaguely remember reading that.

Does anyone know what the effect on one's body is when you mix an amphetamine (Adderall) with a double dose of pseudoephedrine (Claritin-D)? Instead of worrying about meth, what about the legal drugs? What kind of interaction do they create in the body? smile

I got this of a drug reaction site I have used.

Before taking Adderall, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs:
•    blood pressure medications;
•    a diuretic (water pill);
•    cold or allergy medicines (antihistamines);
•    acetazolamide (Diamox);
•    chlorpromazine (Thorazine);
•    ethosuximide (Zarontin);
•    guanethidine (Ismelin);
•    haloperidol (Haldol);
•    lithium (EskalithLithobid);
•    methenamine (HiprexMandelamineUrex);
•    phenytoin (Dilantin), phenobarbital (LuminalSolfoton);
•    propoxyphene (DarvonDarvocet);
•    reserpine;
•    sodium bicarbonate (Alka-Seltzer); or
•    antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine (Ascendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Tofranil), or nortriptyline (Pamelor).

This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with Adderall. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.

I thought this a little scary, and not the best thing for Jeremy’s case overall .

What should I avoid while taking Adderall?
Adderall can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.

OT but IMO very important > ALWAYS check reactions FOR YOUR SELF before taking any prescription drug. Doctors are not perfect and even the best make mistakes about reactions.

There seems to be so many drugs that can cause false positives I don't know why the lab was so adamant about it not being possible to fail for what Jeremy said he had taken. Under DOT guidelines in NJ just because a drug is on the banned list and is found in your system doesn't mean you're in violation of the policy. If you are legally on the medication and your doctor believes it doesn't negatively affect your job or safety then it shouldn't be a problem but NASCAR has its own rules.
