Overall.. i liked the race, pretty fun to watch, with ALOT of exciment threwout it. I have a feeling though next year will be 3x better!
One thing i was very disapointed in... SPEED only showing LMP1 and GT1 on the podium =( I was hoping to watch LMP2 with the Danish anthem and watching all the Danish flags wave in the crowd =(

Just wanted to bring this to your attention- and im sorry if i sound rude but when someone I feel is not given credit or unjustifiably made thought less of it really gets me fired up. First and foremost- to those that Do know who Mr Patrick Dempsey is, we should say ya know for a rookie and your first time- not bad! Now that you have a little experience, lets go back next year and be even more competative! oh yes- on to what I was going to say-
Yes Michael Schumacher used to race the Mercedes Sauber before going into Formula 1- however you are missing the point- YES Mr. Dempsey may not have been the fastest guy out there in the GT2 class or even at all- but ALL the great drivers were never Qualified when they first started out or came to Lemans to begin with. Now I believe that you dont have a problem with Mr Dempsey- but like I said- if you can really dig down deep give the man respect- he loves racing and is getting experience-he raced for a great cause-for the love of god, there are drivers that have come for YEARS to this legendary race, and never finished in the top 10, happy just to get to the checkered flag or Aquiring a bunch of DNFs. The problem I have with your reasoning or view on the his performance is that YOU simply cannot come to grips with the facts. Your hearing me but your not LISTENING. And here we are at the end of Lemans 2009 and like they say the ends justify the means, and the facts are the facts- THE MAN IS A ROOKIE- IT IS HIS FIRST TIME TO LEMANS (DO YOU REALIZE WHAT IT IS TO GO TO THE GREATEST SPORTS CAR RACE ON EARTH, NEVER HAVE BEEN THERE, AND WALK AWAY NOT ONLY KNOWING THAT YOU FINISHED BUT A TOP TEN FINISH???!!!! THE MAN DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO 1 SINGLE ACCIDENT OUT THERE AND THERE ARE DRIVERS THAT HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR YEARS THAT DID MORE DAMAGE. NO ACCIDENTS- AND A ROOKIE AT THE LMANS 24 HOURS- A FINISH IN THE TOP 10 CONTRIBUTING POSITIVELY TOWARDS HIS TEAMS TOP 10 FINISH. (IM SORRY 9TH IN GT2 CLASS- THANKS FOR STOPPING BY) YOUR FISHING FOR SOMETHING TO BRING HIM DOWN AND YOU CANT-AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS "HES NOT QUALIFIED" AND "HIS LAP TIMES ARE THE SLOWEST" His team crossed the finish line, and Finished top 10 in GT2 class- nuff said and thank you for stopping by.

The Speed coverage was pretty good. Sometimes better than the F1 coverage. I was fully covered with the online streaming, though full online streaming the whole time would have been great.
As a German I was somewhat disappointed that only the #1Audi made it to the podium but I am happy for Alex Wurz and S. Bourdais to have such a great race.
I wonder what will happen to Audi now after pulling out of ALMS. Having a car running only in two races ain't cutting it.

Don't bet the farm on that. Peugeot might sit out next year and prepare a new car for the 2011 rules or a hybrid. The 908 is in its 4th year then and will probably be no match for a refined R15 and it doesn't make sense to built a new car for just one year, either. So I don't see Peugeot repeating this next year.

It was the first time I got to watch the race in its entirety and while right now I desperately need some sleep, I really really enjoyed it. Entertaining and intense and lots of coverage of all 4 classes. I also loved the coverage period, especially with the help of the live streaming. So much better than the frustration I always end up feeling with the lack of coverage of the Daytona 24 Hour.

The last 5-6 min when the Peugeot's were all three running together was a pretty awesome sight for sure..the French were going and rightfully so pretty crazy..got to see these guys last year here in the states at the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta..cant wait for this year..the Peugeot's as well as the Aston in the Gulf colors..I to would like a little more coverage of the GT2 cars..but overall it was LeMans..and what a race..what history..what a venue.

I sincerely hope that SPEED will adopt this same coverage model for all endurance races -- including European events. Also, rather than watching a race on tape delay, I would like to see SPEED offer a live web-based stream of the event.
Let the NASCAR clowns have TV. We can enjoy the real racing online.

I agree 100%. No reason not to have streaming video of any race that's being broadcast, if it can't all fit on TV.
SPEED raised the bar with Le Mans. I hope they equal their efforts in other races.

I was more impressed with Patrick Dempsey than I expected to be, a rookie but not a moving roadblock. He stayed out of trouble himself and out of the way of the faster cars.
The strength of the ALMS. Two of the four class winners were ALMS teams and sanctionong body was well represnted in all classes by the drivers who participate in it on a regular basis: Frank Montigny, David Brabham, Simon Pagenaud, Patrick Long. . .
The advantage of streaming video, even if I did lose the picture for a while Saturday afternoon. It made up for the time lost to NA$CAR coverage.
