Interesting note is that John Force's first funny car was a rear engine car. Started with a 427 Ford motor, then changed to a Chrysler hemi, both mounted sideways. Ultimately, he was banned from the local track because the car was chain driven, and the starter was often hit with chain links.
Good luck with the ride Back. grin

Thanks guys, we went from 'wannabe' to match racer, and have a music video, documenting our 'ups and downs' this video represents eight years of hard work (and a LOT of money) from no body at all, to the one run disaster of the black roadster body, to the fuel altered deal, to the 'Blew-By-You' Vette body, to the Hugger Orange it wears now !! Got lots of help from a lot of awesome people (RooMan of John Force Racing) really helped us on our way, and Ron Evans from the fuel altered match race team is our fuel guru and phone in crewchief now !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUq1LHaqMmc

What are the Engine Specs? Also, NHRA probably doesn't even know the name AHRA is back. I had to tell the person I thought knew EVERYTHING about drag racing that the name had been bought. AHRA is not going to make a blip on NHRA's radar. None of the top media in drag racing know anything about AHRA. Not even Nostalgia fanboy Jeff Burke. It may be a cool series, but far from national, from the public's eye, and far from giving ANYTHING other than the local bracket races a run for their money.

Our current engine specs: 489 Big Block Chevy, 15:1 compression, Enderle fuel injection on alky, approx 900 HP
Next years engine (almost completed): 496 BBC, 15:1 compression, Enderle injected on NITRO, 1500 plus HP
We have no control over what NHRA thinks or does, so why even worry about it ??
Just because someone gets a column in an online mag, doesn't make them an expert, Burke only sees what he wants to see, his inaccurate stories are widely known to be just that.
AHRA is a growing league, tracks and teams are switching over, which in itself is quite an accomplishment, given the current economy. AHRA is putting the fun back into racing, and keeping costs down too. I am thrilled to have such a place to run our car. Give us time to grow, don't count us out just yet smile

A: I Know Burke.
B: I hope you're not a founding or controlling member of AHRA. Solely from this statement. "We have no control over what NHRA thinks or does, so why even worry about it ?? "

Those are shorty dragsters with bodies but hey, looks like you're having fun so more power to ya.

One thing though, stopping just short of the street after doing a burnout in your driveway at home might give some a less than professional impression.
