Absolutely beautiful stuff, but humans make poor substitutes for Armco.

Toivonen and Markku Alen were about the only two drivers that could tame the Delta S4, and in the end it took the life of Henri and his co-driver Sergio Cresto, the S4 truly was the last of a generation, indeed the drivers then were more of a driver than those of today, though you can't fault todays fast guys. GrpB machines had no ABS, no sequential gearboxes, and more crude differentials......people make comparisons between the performance of todays WRCars and the Grpb's, but the driver of the old cars had no driver aids, just balls made of titanium, and a foot made of lead.

DAMMIT, NOW THAT'S DRIVIN!!!!!!!! The drivers of those wickedly awesome Group B Rally Cars (a.k.a. The Killa Bees) are the reason why the term 'Drive it like ya stole it' was coined.
Back then they even had women drivers beating the pants off the big boys. I can't remember her name but I do know that one of the Killer B drivers was a woman who won two FIA World Rally Championships in an Audi Quattro during the early eighties.
Those spectators had some brass balls as well. I mean, standing in the middle of the track waiting at the bottom of a jump. Only moving out of the way when a car crested the hill!!!
BRING BACK THE GROUP B RALLY CARS!!!!

Michele Mouton had 4 wins in the early 80s, but she never won a championship, and I dont think any other woman did as well as her. Still some awesome driving all around, I wish I was around to see those cars.

I think I was able to watch a couple of rallies on ESPN back around that time. I was about 12 years old or so in 86 and might have seen those joyous Group B cars.
Those were the cars that got me interested in racing way back when I was a wee laddy in San Diego.
Now the 2010 Volvo C30 looks like it has serious potential to be a WRC rally car.

Enjoy those videos while you can because the only time you will see a Group B type rally car in action is on youtube or old racing videos. Heck, the next gen WRC car is going to be based on a Super 2000 rally car in 2011. Rallying is moving closer toward their production car counterparts.
