Ferrari may have teamed up with Peugeot to accelerate the development of the Italian F1 team's KERS system for the 2009 season.

doesn't that make it NOT prototype? since it's not developed in F1 like everyone elses' system? seems lame to me they should have such an advantage. Esp w/ the testing ban, they should just lose out.

The top F1 teams will always find a loop hole in the rules, good for Ferrari, maybe a prototype or subcomponent will show up in this years 24hrs of Daytona. KER's should have been deferred back a few years until we get a handle on the financial impact.

Way too experimental for GrandAm I'm afraid. Still waiting for carbon brakes! LeMans maybe. I agree though, KERS isn't doing anything to cut costs, and how relevant is it anyway?

LMAO - Grand Am DPs are what NASCAR ride would be with modern tech (at least for NASCAR) - anyway I'll be at the 24hrs, again.

How does KERS help F1 save money again? While Max and Bernie all cry broke and "we need to save money" they are forcing KERS? Can we all not hear out both sides of their mouths?

Although I'm not a fan of the monster called, "Bernie-Max" and I rarely agree about anything thing they have to say. But the reported reason they implemented KERS is to promote overtaking. And as far as I know, KERS isn't a mandatory piece of equipment the teams have to run on their machines (only an option for speed boost).

True it's not a very efficient way of spending money developing KERS in these times. But if a team can get it right and when championships, I guess it is worth it. Right?

I hope it works better than that stupid pit refuling system that lost Massa the championship. If I were him, I'd say thanks but no thanks.

I agree Chrislovesdana, like I say hybrids belong in the carpool lane not in F1.
