Simple fix: "Top 35 rule" should also mean that NASCAR only pays the top 35 finishing spots. That will stop the start and parkers and make the race to get into the top 35 finishers more interesting during the race. Not to mention make the purse that those who do earn money a bit higher.

I suggested a similar idea on here about 6 months ago, and I got massacred by people saying that I was stupid for having that idea. They don't realize that the sport will end up having to do that to get teams to race.

I've never understood why Parsons never owned up to his involvement with this team. Even if it's true that he just let them use his name at one time it's easily explained by saying that he helped them get started but no longer has anything to do with them. Being so secret about it makes it seem like he has something to hide and probably draws more attention to it than if he was just up-front.

Why not just start 35 cars?

I have no problem with the current system if that is what those teams need to do to be able to survive. Terry Cook who is pictured in the C&D;article is one of my very favorite drivers and I wish I could see him run in a good car, but it is what it is. Morgan Shepherd has given so much to our sport and is such a good person that I would never criticize his motives or methods.

Next thing you know people will want singers that can sing, ads that tell the truth and there will really be a 10,000 mpg carb.

Start and park and run the bottom cars have always been a part of NASCAR.

I don't care for starting and parking as a business plan for the season, but I have no problem with guy's like Cope and Shepard starting and parking to raise enough money to run a full race now and then. You do what you have to.

We could start a pool every week guessing how many laps the strokers will complete before retiring with 'handling' problems.

Now there's a thought. How about a start and park fantasy league? One point per laps run. grin
