2008 H-D Dressers Pipes really hot

Will ceramic coatings on H-D headers really lower the ambient temps on the bike. I have a 2008 Screaming Eagle 110 cubic inch Ultra Classic. The heat is terrible espically when the outside temps get above 85 degrees. Will ceramic coatings to the headers really help? Maybe the Speed Channel should have a show on this issue. I know of several thousands of Harley riders that would love to know this.

Well I don't think ceramic coatings would help much but the Standard Chrome should reflect the heat pretty well. You might try dilling vent holes in the pipe to dissipate the heat better. You could also use header wrap, looks retro and cool too.

Ceramics are insulators, so theoretically, they will reduce "ambient temps" emanating from the header surface. However coating the headers may do nothing for improving the heat that is making the rider uncomfortable. If the heat that was being broadcast out of the header tubes is no longer able to transfer, it may be removed along with exhaust gasses, or it may be reintroduced into the cylinder at the header connection site (or never able to leave it).
You'd almost have to have a full infrared study done on the same bike, with and without ceramic coated headers...

the proper ceramic coating inside and outside the exhaust will reduce pipe temps by at least 300 degrees, however i don't think you can coat chrome pipes. I would also check the air fuel ratio lean conditions will cause high temps.

I also agree with 2Twisted, check the air/fuel ratio. In this month's Sport Rider, the article about the Buell 1125CR mentions that the fuel mapping was revised and it virtually eliminated the excessive heat problem...
