The banter keeps on rolling this week as we consider the list of best racing movies just begging for argument by SPEEDtv.com readers...

Jade's list is good but it is incomplete without "The World's Fastest Indian". Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Burt Munro captures elements of several racers I know. A friend in New Zealand tells me that the movie was interrupted several times for applause.

What no Driven?!
OK, OK enough of that. I gotta go with either Faster (early signs that Rossi is indeed a two-wheeled deity walking among mere mortals); or the follow-up
The Doctor, The Tornado and the Kentucky Kid(the aw-shucks 'Merican kid whips butt)

The Racing Scene is a documentary about James Gardner's real life experiences as a team owner. A great look at sportscar and F5000 racing in the early seventies.

Nice list but should be twice as long! One of my favorites was a late '40s gem called "The Big Wheel" with Mickey Rooney. Pretty hokey story but cool vintage footage of midget and Indy 500 action.

"To Please A Lady" with Babara Stanwyck and Clark Gable as a driver who falls and rises again. Fantastic footage of early 50s Indy. Lots of real drivers like Maury Rose in it as well.
And can aly list of racing movies be complete without "Stroker Ace"?

Have to agree with stick500. The Big Wheel is a terrific racing moving especially the scenes shot at Indy after WW 2.
I placed it second to Grand Prix.

What about The Racers (1955) Kirk Douglas and Ceasar Romero race Monaco, Nurburgring, the Mille Miglia, and Spa with lots of footage of the Golden Era of F-1 and sports-car racing. Even the mandatory romance doesn't hurt the full too much.
