Jordan announced a new sponsor for his team yesterday - the National Guard. Seems like only the government has money to blow these days. I find it interesting that they showed it on a GSXR, especially since he seems to be planning on staying in the AMA Pro racing series. No pictures yet.

This was in last weeks Cycle News the Natonal Guard sponser is suposed to be a 2nd team with a seperate manufacture . They probably could not anounce everything about the team until the DMG sets the rules for the classes the Cycle News article said the 2nd team would be Buells and the Jordan bikes might be Ducati's.

So if the second team is supposed to be Buell's why wouldn't they show the new team graphics on a Buell? They could have mocked up the graphics on the Buells they raced in FX at least. I wouldn't be very happy as the mfgr supporting a new team and having the announcement made with another mfgr's bike.

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=34622 has just posted a story today that pretty much says what last weeks CycleNews said that the National Guard is the sponser for a 2nd Jordan team. They do not know what brand of bikes they will be racing yet on either of their teams and have no riders signed yet.

They were just introducing the new sponser and used this years team bikes for the intoduction because the 2009 bikes are not finalised yet. They are rumored to racing 1125rr Buells next year witch were not legal for FX this year the only Buells to race in FX this year were XBRR's ridden by privatier racers. The 1125rr is a liquid cooled twin and the XBRR is air cooled .The FX rules allowed air cooled twins to be up to 1350ccs to allow the Xbrr and the BMW 1200 HP2 to race in the class and allowed liquid cooled twins to have 850ccs so the Ducati 848 could race in the class. The DMG made the 1125rr legal for the Daytona Superbike class giving it a huge advantage over any other motorcycle legal for that class.

Didn't DMG put some weight on the Buell? My recollection was that horsepower and weight were tied together to eliminate a "huge" advantage for any particular configuration. Did that change?

The original formula was a 3 to 1 weight to HP limit for example 360lbs bikes could have 120HP.The max HP allowed was 140HP so those bikes had to weigh 420lbs.The manufactures refused to race in a HP limited class so the DMG has changed the rules for the class but has not anounced the new rules for any of their classes yet.

Sadly, that series seems to give him what he's looking for. Nascarization.

this is what Jordan's been looking/asking for for several years now. the chance to win. since he asked for the trick stuff yosh had and yosh told him "you can't afford it" he's been looking for the opportunity to run in an equal field. of course he's gonna run ama

i seem to recall back when he spoke up everybody said "yeah!!". funny how things change
