Well, Dalejunyor8 if you run out of tires, you find a team that is out of the race and you buy their tires. As a matter of fact this weekend at Talladega the 43 team of Bobby Labonte had to buy tires from the 12 team. The last set of tires that they went out on Sunday were still mounted on the 12 team’s wheels.


As far as points goes if you crashed prior to the green flag and your car was un-repairable you would be credited with a 43rd place finish and you would receive 34 driver points and 34 owner points. Owners receive points even if their car doesn’t qualify for the race. So let’s say you were an owner and you entered a car, but you failed to qualify because your time was only 45th fastest and you were not in the top 35 in owner points. You would not race but you would be given 28 owner points for showing up and trying to qualify. Your driver would not get any points because they did not make the race. Basically if you qualify outside the top 43 the owner points scale for trying to make the race goes down by three points per position until you get to 54th place. 54th place and anything behind that in qualifying gets 1 point for showing up and trying.
