Congratulations to Reagan Smith on his first Sprint Nascar Cup wiN!

Congratulations to George Dewy winning the 1948 Presidential election... raspberry

It's absolutely amazing how NASCAR can reverse itself on a rule.
Then again it's no wonder they keep the rulebook under wraps. big surprise

TONYFAN, you have to be kidding me, brother. If the roles were reversed you'd probably be pretty P.O'd right now.

The absolute bottom line here is NASCAR screwed up BIG TIME, and contradicted a statement they made not even 6 years ago. Regan Smith won the race today.

It makes me so angry! Dale Jr. and Matt Kenseth a couple years ago, same situation, they awarded Junior. That truck race with Spencer, same case. I don't get it.

NASCAR messed up, you need to admit your driver got beat today, and NASCRAP gave him a win.

My driver has gone below the yellow line and has gotton penalized for it. heck he was the first guy ever to get penalized for it. So had the rules been reversed I wouldn't have been mad because he clearly went below the yellow line.

Or better yet how about a call they made this year! Same thing, not the last lap either, differant ruling handed down by Nascrap & the offender go to keep his win!

And you are right, Nascrap blew it big time today. How can you give the 20 the win today for what they said the 01 was wrong and didn't count and then say the 18 win was valid for what they said was OK at that time! It cannot work both ways Tonyfan now can it!

Post-Race Comments from NASCAR Vice President of Corporate Communications Jim Hunter Talladega Superspeedway, Oct. 5, "You cannot improve your position anytime you go below the yellow line. In our judgment, he (Regan Smith) improved his position and the penalty for that is a pass thru, so he was moved back to the tail end of the longest line or 18th position. At the driver's meeting, we clearly state that you cannot improve your position by going below the yellow line. We do not feel he was forced below the yellow line. Anytime you get into a situation like this, there are going to be two different opinions. We respect Regan's view, but we made the call, we think it's the right call and the finish is final. NASCAR has to maintain some kind of control – and that's the reason we say, you cannot advance your position by going below the yellow line. If he had not improved his position, he probably would have been awarded 2nd place."(NASCAR)(10-5-2008)

We do not feel he was forced below the yellow line.

An unbelievable level of arrogance and ignorance on Jim Hunters part.

I guess it can because Kyle Busch won that race and Tony won the race today. So as long as the same people are in charge of the rules it can work both ways.

You notice how pretty much everyone on here is saying that Regan won except for the Stewart fans.
actually most stewart fans are saying the same thing...so there is an obvious problem with nascar here

As someone who isn't a Smith or Stewart fan, but someone who genuinely felt bad for Regan, he didn't *pass* Tony until he was beneath the yellow line. He seemed (from what I recall seeing myself) to pull along side Tony and then Tony came down. Let's imagine this: If the situation were reversed, not by driver but location, what would have happened. If Tony tried to block Regan while the 01 was against the wall what would have happened? Regan would have HAD to push back, which it seems to me is what NASCAR wants. The race has to take place between the yellow line and the wall.
