nastycar said no bump drafting in the corner also . do you think edwards will get a penalty . i don't

Considering that he probably lost 100+ points in the championship today, he has already given himself a pretty huge penalty.

I think he only lost 62 points. All things considered, it could have been much worse. I think it helped the overall Chase field, too, because now it's just one guy with a bigger lead. One guy stumbling is much easier to see than 3 guys stumbling. Of course, that one guy is Jimmie Johnson - someone in the process of becoming a legend in this sport - but bad luck can happen to anyone and there are still 6 races to go - a long time. I doubt the 99 or the 16 are going to give up.

Regan Smith had every opportunity to go to the high side and make a legal pass. But nope he stuck his nose in the one place where he knew Smoke
would throw the block. Regan smith should have faked low and went high. An if passing below the yellow line is legal on the last lap. Then it's legal on every lap.

It is legal on the last lap according to Nascrap, or it was until today. He is what Nascrap said when they allowed Benson to pass under the Yellow line & awarded him the win:

This from NASCAR Craftsman Truck 07 Daytona race:

OUT OF BOUNDS: Drivers throughout the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage were still talking about last week's three-wide finish at Daytona International Speedway.
While they admitted the finish was good for television, most wondered why NASCAR allowed Johnny Benson to drive below the yellow line - Daytona's out of bounds line - to jump from third to second in the final 200 yards.
Benson wasn't penalized because "if you can see the checkered flag on the last lap, anything goes," according to NASCAR spokesman Owen Kearns.

Now, whats the differance today?????????????????????

Don't forget the couple of times Jr. has been engaged in driving below the line at Talladega without getting called out by NASCAR.
And they wonder where the fanbase is going?! shock

If everybody hadn't screwed around so long during the three laps they had to pass Stewart, this probably wouldn't have happened in the first place. You wait til the last possible second, then someone's going to get wrecked or there's gonna be some weirdness going on.

They only had two laps ... One lap under green ... One lap after the white flag ... then the checkered flag flies ...

Even though they claim it doesn't take as long to wind up the COTs, it still takes almost the same 2 laps that it took the old car to get wound up ...

Ok to the topic..............
If NASCAR is going to keep this passing below the yellow line rule I suggest that if you cross over the Yellow Line during Qualifing to better your time then that time is dismissed also.
You can not pass under yellow line to increase your postion during the race then you can not go bleow it during QUALIFING EITHER

Nascar is becoming nothing more then Politics

Becoming? NASCAR has a history of questionable calls and rulings. I thought they were trying for more credibility, but I guess I was wrong.

Will be interesting to see if NASCAR "clarifies" this rule going forward.

I kept hearing mention of a last lap anything goes rule? Does this rule really exist? Where can you find a list of nascar rules? This may be an exaggeration but they seem to change from driver to driver at times

The only people who have a rulebook are the teams and officials. NASCAR's rulebook isn't available to the general public. Some say because its written in pencil so they can change it in the middle of a race. smile lol
