Another Sebring Question

What is Sebring like for taking photos from the infield? At Daytona you can get above the top of the fencing with a step stool. At Road Atlanta I could only find one spot in turn 6 where the view was unobstructed by a fence.

Thanks--

You'll need a step stool. Or, if you're patient, you can use the bodies of those who are passed out to gain a better viewpoint. sick

Brilliant! I'm going to try to make it in 2009 provided that I have recovered from St. Patrick's Day.

Viewing mounds, ladders, and friendly people with RV's and scaffolding help tremendously for better angles. The track rules are not enforced nearly as much as a lot of people think in regards to scaffolding and ladder heigth. Sebring also does not have a lot of tall fence areas except the longest straights. Most of the track is surrounded by guard-rails and 4 foot chain-link fence. The run-off and worker access add quite a bit of distance, so a decent zoom lens is critical for detailed close-ups.

Sebring is habit-forming as long as you don't have a bad experience like getting carried away by the Storm-Troopers. The legendary parties in Green Park of the past are toned-down, but it is sill an event that I plan to attend as long as I am able.

Thanks for the details. It sounds like I should be able to get some good shots with the equipment that I use for Daytona.

Hopefully the above link works. It's my album of Sebring 2008. No stool needed. Plenty of places to get close unobstructed views. Last year was my first Sebring and I am looking for flights right now for 2009. I camped in turn 10 Wednesday to Sunday morning. Sebring is an experience. Stay at the track and camp. checkout http://www.sebringfans.com

Its a forum for the 12 hours fans. It can be a big party for a lot of people although its been toned down over the years. I found a group of about 10 guys which included the moderator of the site who was local who welcomed me into thier group.

About half the members are moderators there.....well, that may be a stretch. But there are a lot, and hardly any moderating ever gets done. In fact, I have only ever heard of one post being deleted.

Great people over there, but activity is kind of slow until a couple of months before the race.

No offense HW, but I think you know which forum is more fun and useful for Sebring info and networking. Besides, almost everybody there always goes to the race and they like meeting other GOOD people.

Very important note!!!!!! I'm not really sure about forum rules, but there are no trolls, flamers, spammers, whiners or bullies at sebringfans.com. I'm sure some have tried, but they don't last very long from what I can tell. My guess is they are fed to the fire ants.

You are absolutely right. A cooler on wheels is more practical anyway.
