i think rusty retired too early also but coming back to DEI i question. i would hate to see him come back and struggle in those cars. rusty is one hell of a racer but today you cant force these cars to go fast like you could before.

It's always difficult to quit what you love even if you are burnt-out from the demands of racing. Coming out of retirement with significant technological changes will make it much more difficult to be successful for Rusty.
Being a top driver simply isn't enough these days in any pro racing. The sport of auto racing is so sophisticated that now the engineers run the show because that is the only means to get a winning race car package. Depending on Rusty's objectives, it will be challenging to achieve "success" if success means winning. All one needs to do is look at the struggling top name drivers in NASCAR today to see the challenge. None of these drivers has lost the fire or forgotten how to win yet they rarely see the winners circle.
Best of luck to Rusty should he decide to return. I'm not sure DEI is the place to return to but on occassion they seem to be in the hunt.

A disaster in the making..........at least I may not have to listen to him talk during a race about how he used to do it..................

It's interesting for both racers and spectators to know the inside scoop on racing from a drivers perspective. I have no problem with Rusty or any other successful driver sharing their perspective on how it's down or how they did it. Professional driving and wrenching on race cars is highly under valued by those who have not done it personally.
When it comes to commentators, personality counts and what constitutes a good personality is always subjective. Obviously networks and producers pick commentators that the majority of the TV viewing audience like. If the viewer numbers aren't acceptable, they change the commentators. I don't think Rusty will have any problem staying employed as a TV race commentator.

Once again this is Kenny just being Kenny!!! He just wants to be respected and be significant in this sport and this is his way attempting that. Rusty IS NOT coming out of retirement Kenny so let it go. Go out and get your own ride, without Rusty's help!
