Her's the problem with trying to reduce costs. The single biggest expense for a privateer in any class is people. Plane tickets, hotel rooms, food, etc... These things add up quite a bit faster than 1 or 2 extra sets of tires in a race weekend.

Great article! I hope that Bill France and Tony George each read it 5 times. They've let the thread of history on our great races (Daytona & Indy) slip through their greedy fingers, only to discover that big $ teams can still dominate a spec series!
