kiyo is such a fun rider to watch, rain or shine. i just love his riding style. on a day honoring craig ones, it would have been great for crutchlow to have won, but alas...
the second rain race was bizarre with corser and biaggi both saying "stop this madness", but no.
Shame for the brits in the first race, reading the flag incorrectly. haslam would never have been in position to be t-boned.
the wss race was a blast, too.
who gets the open yamaha seats? who gets the hanspree seat?

Gary, Darby... nobody is disputing that Rolfo caused the crash/that it was his fault. But he shouldn't be attacked for it.
It was a wet track and he lost the front. He wasn't trying something particularly crazy, it just ended up looking a bit extreme because he lost it so early on.
Either way, we have seen much worse... and it was typical racing stuff. What was not tpical, or necessary, was that little baby throwing a fit like he is in the hunt for the title. Or should Rolfo know better than to go anywhere near the son of a mediocre British GP legend?

AZRIFEL, thanks for the info.
RR, I thought I was being generous in describing the accident. "Too much enthusiasm" sounds better than "stupid move", right? Same result.
Why the bitter shots at Rocket Ron?? I met him at Daytona many years back (early 1980s) and considered him a fine rider and a most cordial individual. What are your credentials, by the way??

No disrespect for Ron Haslam... just can't stand the way the Brits treat him like he is Freddy Spencer or Wayne Rainey or something.
Again, Rolfo's move was not good. But it was a mistake... and like you said Darby, a typical wet weather on slicks mistake. He is a fault... but it didn't warrant that kind of reaction.

Nori definitely had a weekend to forget, but at least he had the cool new Ben Leeves designed livery eh?

Amazing display by Kiyo in the second race, was sliding that bike all over but was able to maintain the quick lap times & props to Cal for giving him a battle all the way to the end...
check out Kiyo's superpole lap...simply breath taking!

Hey Anderson, were you really so anxious to post those little diggs about Italian riders that you had to do it three times? Wow.
Gary, Leon Haslam is a nobody. He would have been out of racing a long time ago if it wasn't for his name. He races in a national series. When he manages something like coming second in a GP series, then you can say something.
And you guys always call me biased... but it is you guys that aren't being objective here. Everyone was racing on slicks. It was raining off and on though... and enough that Haslam even put his hand up at one point. Rolfo was coming over that little hump, pulled out to pass and found himself on a wet patch. He lock the front very early on, which forced him to go into the corner too fast. He lost the front and crashed. Haslam stared at him on the ground, and proceeded to ride his bike into the back of Rolfo's head. His classy reaction to this was to gesture to Rolfo while he was still on the ground.
Whatever, Rolfo messed up but it was a typical mistake for the conditions. Wasn't a rookie or amatuerish move. He wasn't trying to pass two riders at once, it just seemed that way cause the track was wet in the braking zone.
I mean, is Bayliss a rookie for crashing in race 2? Was Toseland last year for chucking it at wet Silverstone? Get over yourselves.
Bellwhiff, nobody thinks the BSB guys are special except the brits. Leon Haslam especially. And just look at the track record of these guys. Hodgeson won a WSBK title in the weakest season ever, as chosen by Ducati. Shakey Burn was a total disaster in MotoGP. I mean, Gregorio Lavilla showed up in BSB and was a force from day one. Gregorio Lavilla who is a nobody if there ever was one. Give me a break and save me the British nonsense.
Instead of worrying about calling me names cause you are jealous, why not concentrate your energy on making the racetracks in your country decent and developing some young talent. Nah, I'm sure you would rather whine with the rest of your country about how your #1 cheater Lewis got rightfully punished for breaking the rules. Sheesh, and you people say Biaggi complains a lot.

RR, to clarify, no one thinks Rolfo is special except YOU. Haslam is a good rider, Rolfo is a falling could-have-been.

What about Haga? I think he needs another drug test.

And what was up with the Haga "ride through" call in race 2? They never said (definitively) what it was for. I know why he was eventually given the black flag (for not complying with the ride through signal), but they never said for certain why he was given the ride through. Was it a jump start?

That whole Haga situation is messed up. From what I gather, that ride through penalty in race 2 was for not stopping soon enough in race 1. Then he went too fast in the pits doing his ride through, so they black flagged him.
And weren't they pushing his bike off the grid at before the start of race 2?? What was that all about?? Were AMA/DMG officials in charge of this race?
