Chicagoland Qualifying

Seems like Helio broke some rule in qualifying and will be sent to the back of the pack for Sunday's race. Apparently, during drivers' meeting, they said you could not go below the white line. Helio did it on all his laps.

How about Marty Roth starting in the top 10. He was on the pole so long, that they got to interview him while still sitting on the pole.

Something is up here. Penske did that on purpose but I think he has something up his sleeve.

Something is definitely up. Tim Cindric and Helio didn't lie well enough to convince me that they didn't know about the white line.
Cindric conveniently said he didn't watch the qualifying run anyway.

My only guess is they are starting from the back and going to trim out the fuel settings and go from there, but even that doesn't make a whole lot of sense for an oval race.

They are avoiding something.

Are there any starting fuel rules ? How about tech inspection if you get a DNQ ? There is one thing you can count on; Penske will always know the rules, and look for a way to get around them.

I don't really think you would call Roger Penske a cheater. You say he knows the rules. That he does, but, he uses the rules.

Ah Cindric was just playing with Arute. It was a little bit tougue & cheek. Cindric wasn't "trying" to lie about not knowing the rules. Roger was busy getting Ryan the pole. This was ALL Cindric/Helio. Being the President of Penske Racing Inc. i'd assume he can "plan" any senario he wants. I don't quite have it figured out but it sure will be fun to watch.

Props to Ryan for the pole. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He will not get envolved in this "plan", but he'll go for the win unless Helio has an equal car. If Dixon DNF's (which is possible) Ryan will not race Helio but will have his back. First order of business...working through all that traffic. gulp JMHO.

Can't wait till 3:30

Helio was pretty obvious with "They definitely didn't say that during the driver's meeting" unprompted, I think he was even smiling while he said that. Are they planning on hanging back and knocking a backmarker into Dixon as he comes to lap them or something? I would hope not, but they definitely have something up their sleeve...

Ah c'mon Penske don't play NASCAR crap like that. They don't have fenders to bump left quarter panels. Why should he give Pedigo anything else but that. It's all good. Just a little more exitement for the finale. Why should Cindric be a stuffed shirt all the time?
