JohnW63, same questions just rehashed as they have been asked and answered. Its just that you dont like the answers. The drink company, Coca-cola. Remember you said it would never happen.Peak Motor Oil, remember it was not going to happen. They sponsor 2 of the last 3 races currently. They sponsor the pole award along AutoZone. Direct TV, remember, it was not going to happen. Franks Energy Drink, remember they were not going to happen. Its sponsored Kanaans car at Edmonton and Detroit and is on it every race as an associate sponsor. IMS is the busines he runs and that include the ICS. They do make money, remember the Brickyard 400, and when it was started. The Team Monies have already been upped 100,000 per team this year alone. The money comes from wise business decisions on his part. A 2 car team instead of 3. Got rid of the F-1 race. Moto GP is here. All new revenue streams or cuts of losses.

For the last few years, the rumors and expectations of ANY sponsor in AOW has always turned out to be much LESS than the rumor mills predicted.

Remember the "big" automotive company coming on board ? Mobile 1 ? STP ? .... Peak was just adding oil to their line of anti-freeze products.

Remember the drink company about to announce ? Budweiser ? Miller ? .... Franks Energy Drink.

As to TG being so flush with cash... The Team money is safe ! Um... the Team Money came from the TV deal. That was the point of this "revenue sharing". What are they getting now, compared to what ABC was paying when the Team stuff started ? Are they running more a less races, at 1.5 mill per race ? I think the answer is MORE races. So, the TV money is equal or LESS than they had, and the Team money, based on number of teams and races added is MORE. It sounds like things will cost TG more than before. The kicker is that he has NO competition now, and running the league costs him MORE ! Just how long will he be good with that ? Besides, I though TG didn't subsidize the IRL ? At least that's what was always said, around here.

John, I'm virtually convinced that you will never be a fan of this series. If anything happens which is white, you'll say black and visa versa. Everything is criticism.

Your thinking appears to be entirely negative and suspicious of everything and every policy that happens in Indy Car, no matter what. There's no Ying and Yang. It's all Yang.

My personal take is that you're a smart guy but have an ax to grind and you are completely one sided, to the point of being obsessed with discrediting anything and everything Indy Car does.

I'm certain you would be much happier if you buried the hatchet.

The reason for the negative thinking is there is very little to be positive about.

Rather than critisize John for his posting style, why not address the points he has made?

Anytime someone is not happy with the direction of the series they are told to get lost, that is a great way to re-build your fanbase. rolleyes

Fortunately, Patrick did not have a towel in her possession or the confrontation could have deteriorated into one of the great towel-offs in sports history.

Guys, the team subsidies will not be a problem. How long has Tony George been running the IRL. He pays for the merger and know all of the sudden he is out of money. I dont think so. We do know about a couple of companies who are possible title sponsors and we have been told by varying sources of this. AT&T;was my wishful thinking and I said as much but it should be noted that they are reevaluating their programs. This was stated by them and have had contact from every series and numerous individuals in racing. Numerous sources have indicated their are 2 technology companies talking does that mean AT&T;, probably not. But again you never know.We never knew they were talking to Versus and that came about very quickly.

I would think with more TV time meaning more exposure that would equate to more money.

Earl.. good updates but I would like to point out that if I were one of those possible sponsors... my thought would be to go to the IRL, with my previous proposal -- when it was assumed that they would be on network TV and/or ESPN -- and I would ask: "Hey Tony? Since you've signed with a channel that nearly half of the US doesn't get... ...what are you going to do to amend this proposal to reflect that a Channel with more airtime available doesn't mean a hill of beans to me when no one can get it?"

Think about it, TG gets lots of airtime but that doesn't translate into usable ad revenue to potential sponsors. People are making this mistake as they are enamored in what is 'new' -- they think the Versus deal is wonderful and I guess it is -- if you are one of the few that indeed has access to that channel. Again, I will point out that aside from rare instances the in the Cable Programming field, Comcast owns versus and its competitor -- the second biggest cable provider -- Time Warner will not include that channel.

People just aren't thinking this thing out and they are making knee-jerk reactions. It is gunna jump up and bite 'em. Mark my words.
