Until a sponsor is sign/sealed/delivered, IRL people need to STOP making quotes. Because lately, they've looked quite foolish doing this.

You would think they would learn from the mistakes that Champcar made.
I would not exactly call their own history full of sunshine.

I am a glass half full guy and hopefully this will all work out.
Your glass in only half full when it's the IRL.
Your posts in the Nascar forum have always been negative, same for Champcar last year.
I hope it works out too, but I can't even get Versus here so it doesn't help me at all.
"Some see a glass as half full.
Some see it as half empty....
I just see it as another glass I have to wash"
An engineer sees it as twice as big as what's needed to do the job.
In other news, is Subway still doing the 10 million dollar deal, or has that increased?

Earl, thanks for the update on here. I appreciate you keeping us in the loop on such things.
As for those being negative on the tv deal...try living in Canada and try being an IRL fan lol. 3:30 am races on Tsn, or on alternative feeds that some cable outlets don't carry. I'd be in Indy heaven even if i had to watch ESPN, or 2 or Classics, at least I still get to see my open wheel racing, whether the start was missed or changed channels.
Guess I'm use to dealing with crappy television coverage the past few years when it comes to either CC or IRL, but you've guys have had it alot easier in that regard then us.
I do feel bad for those that don't get Versus, same frustration as I've had to a degree. Hopefully the IRL will consider a good Canadian broadcaster so they cant sit there and wonder why TO is down further in attendance. If we can't see the product, it's hard to get into it, but I've done my best with unification and I'm still here and still excited and that's without my fav driver in the series.
Now back to the topic, I'd enjoy Subway as the sponsor. Imagine Danica and Jerrod doing a commercial together along with twinkle toes!

I'm living with the same problem as you. Unless the race is on ABC, I don't bother trying to watch it live and just download it the next day. The good thing is I get to watch commercial free without Scott and Marty.
It was weird having Champcar on The Score last year, but it did work out pretty well. I wonder who the IRL is talking to for Canada, or who their ideal broadcaster would be?

And one of those mistakes was to keep everything a secret and never keep anyone informed as to what is going on with things; leading to the perception that nothing is going on and/or that deals have fallen through or were never legit in the first place. I could go back and dig up several threads and posts from earlier this year in which people were mad that TG didn't let us know MORE as to what was going on.
As for the CC doing the same thing with the "we're working on it". Here at least we know WHO they are talking with, and specifically, WHAT issues are being discussed and worked on.

Your dedication is to be commended. We need more like you......happy with what you have until something better happens. I can't get VS either so i'll watch it on Live Streaming. Now that i can maximize the screen to my 22 inch monitor it's not too bad.

But why do we need to know these things? Too many big announcements get ruined by leaks and rumors.
Haven't you enjoyed reading the surprise news of Dario going to Ganassi along with Target re-signing, and Wheldon to Panther? It wouldn't have been such a big deal if Chip had been telling us his plans and giving us updates leading up to the announcement.
I want Indycar to get a big new title sponsor, but I don't want to know who or what it is until they announce it.

Agreed. I don't want to hear any if's,and's or but's. When it's chissled in stone then tell me. There's been too many hypes then downers.

I am all for having surprise announcements, but I also know that public perception is more important than a happy feeling that you get from a surprise.
Case in point. When they announced the Versus deal (which was a surprise BTW), the concern amongst most was how it would affect sponsorship, more specifically the Title Sponsorship. So you come out, acknowledge that "yep, that was an issue", and then reassure your fans and others that those issues have been resolved and that things are once again on track. If you play the, well we don't want to tell anyone because it might break the deal, or we want it to be a surprise, then you get the perception that; nothing is being done, or that the TV deal broke things down and they don't want to admit it, or that maybe things were never as they seemed and it was all smoke and mirrors. While knowing who they are talking to might ruin the surprise a little bit, it does however give legitimacy to the claims that you are talking with people about title sponsorship.
Deals that get ruined by leaks and rumors were probably never really legit in the first place. You don't need to go in to heavy detail about what it is you are talking about, but you at least need to keep your followers informed, and confident that things are moving forward. I remember reading several threads over at CCF last year in which they were growing increasingly upset at the lack of communication coming out of the CC office. They just wanted to know that things were being done other than "trust me".
