AR 1 has an article from the IBJ stating that things are going well and still expect to have one by years end. I still say AT&T;is a longshot. Have nothing to go by but just a gut feeling.I would also be pleased with Subway. The other 2 that have been mentioned I am not that high on.

Why has it been pushed back again?

AR1 reported about a month ago that the IRL was deciding between 2 potential sponsors, Subway and a bank or something like that.

And from the IBJ article....

The new TV deal has lengthened negotiations, Brown said. “Since the TV buy figures into the deal and we’re not dealing with what we were dealing with six months ago, it’s required us to step back and do a re-presentation.”

Fortunately, Patrick did not have a towel in her possession or the confrontation could have deteriorated into one of the great towel-offs in sports history.  LOL

I would think with more TV time meaning more exposure that would equate to more money.

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't announced at Chicagoland or better yet the same weekend as the chase's final race. I would do it right around Thanksgiving, then all indycar fans would eat Subway for Thanksgiving day dinner...increase those sales! But really, I would have Jared walk out to present the championship trophy and make the announcement then to put an explanation point on the season of blendifaction! Fill the cup with $5 foot longs I say!

Earl, thanks for the update on here. I appreciate you keeping us in the loop on such things.

As for those being negative on the tv deal...try living in Canada and try being an IRL fan lol. 3:30 am races on Tsn, or on alternative feeds that some cable outlets don't carry. I'd be in Indy heaven even if i had to watch ESPN, or 2 or Classics, at least I still get to see my open wheel racing, whether the start was missed or changed channels.

Guess I'm use to dealing with crappy television coverage the past few years when it comes to either CC or IRL, but you've guys have had it alot easier in that regard then us.

I do feel bad for those that don't get Versus, same frustration as I've had to a degree. Hopefully the IRL will consider a good Canadian broadcaster so they cant sit there and wonder why TO is down further in attendance. If we can't see the product, it's hard to get into it, but I've done my best with unification and I'm still here and still excited and that's without my fav driver in the series.

Now back to the topic, I'd enjoy Subway as the sponsor. Imagine Danica and Jerrod doing a commercial together along with twinkle toes!

Your dedication is to be commended. We need more like you......happy with what you have until something better happens. I can't get VS either so i'll watch it on Live Streaming. Now that i can maximize the screen to my 22 inch monitor it's not too bad.

Thank you for the compliment, though I'd say it's more a passion for the sport. I'm 32 yrs old and I've been watching open wheel since 92. I was hooked in 93 just watching Nigel/Tracy/Fittipaldi, on ovals at that, I'm more a road or street course lover. I didn't get to enjoy a Toronto race this year, a reason to be negative, and I've had to fight to watch any race I can see. Heck I'm a PT fan but watching guys like Graham, Orio, Ryan Hunter, Helio, Scott D., even Viso at times, has made for an interesting first year of watching IRL and kept my interest.

Are things perfect? No. But when is anything really perfect? I may not hear Turbo's in Toronto for two years, but Andretti is going to get my money out of me because I enjoy the racing and I'll support my local event and contribute to building it back. It is what it is this year and next so I can either be mr. negative, or I can make the most out of what I enjoy and that's watching north american open wheel racing!

I just see a glass. Half full or half empty is not terribly meaningful at this point.

What's THIS glass read ? It reads that the title sponsor has not yet backed out, but when hearing about the Versus deal had to stop and rewind. The IRL is repackaging it and trying to close the deal. This sort of thing is most probably going on all over the garage. ALL the sponsors need to be resold and probably rebuild their contracts. Yes, Weekly show, and longer race day show is good. Yet, it needs to make up for all the eye-balls they lost by going to Versus from ABC/ESPN. A week long gig at the Grand 'ol Oprey House is not equal to a week at a stadium.

More tv time with less viewers does not equate more money.

But way to keep up the positive spin!

Your constant negativity is to be commended as well.

50% more viewing time alone for the races and other programming means more exposure for the sponsor. Anyways, nobody watches anyways, remember. So why do you care anyways. As for my spin, this is from the IBJ and Zak Browns Just Marketing Inc. I am a glass half full guy and hopefully this will all work out. If it does not, you can jump up and down and say I told you so.BTW, how have the things turned out the last 12 months for which I have been talking about ? That what I thought. Keep holding out for the Title sponsorship not working out and the TV deal to tank.

Your glass in only half full when it's the IRL.

Your posts in the Nascar forum have always been negative, same for Champcar last year.

I hope it works out too, but I can't even get Versus here so it doesn't help me at all.
