So where is Weldon going? I would love to see a 2nd car for Panther or Rahal/Letterman. It would be nice to get a solid 2 car team that could compete with the big-3. Also, keep in mind A.J. Allmendinger could be looking for a ride soon too.

You're kidding me. The fat boy is running out of money, (no sponsors) and already has Franchitti signed and with no ride. Weldon is just another victim of the "spoiled brat"

All I can say is...WHAT! WHAT! WHAT! WHAT!....
I was sure Wheldon was going to be resigned but he left that was no surprise but Dario coming back?! WHAT! You're kidding me I was 110% sure he'd be in ALMS next year. Glad to see Dario back but behind him I can hear the NASCAR fans and media laughing but who cares we love Dario and he just adds depth to what's turning out to be an interesting '08 off season (F1 drivers coming, Dario signing, Alex Lloyd, etc...)

Evidently, Ganassi was feeding Miller some B.S. about Wheldon being locked up at Target after TK stunningly declined. I think it was Dario's decision to take the 10 car or not. That's what Ganassi was waiting for. With Sorenson leaving, I don't understand why Dario did not get the 41 Nascar car. Dario saying he liked the 2009 IRL schedule is a little ridiculous since only Long Beach and Toronto were added. Most of the fans on this site hated the schedule because of the lack of changes due to contractual obligations.
Wheldon did not deserve this Willie Randolph treatment, but there are very few good teams out there. Panther? Wheldon will not win. I also agree Allmendinger could be looking for a seat in 2009 because his GM Jay Frye is flying to Red Bull in Austria to make "recommendations" concerning the Nascar teams. Then there is Paul Tracy, getting older by the minute because he knows with more youngsters looking for seats, his livelihood may be as a pitside reporter. Robert Doornbos or Bryan Herta could be more drivers looking for jobs. IRL needs more owners to come forward like Forsythe (who should bypass Indy Lights), Derrick Walker, Mo Nunn, or Barry Green to come back. Unfortunately, no one is coming back without credible sponsors.

Ganassi is sly like a fox replacing Kanaan with Franchitti! What a steal and Dixon and Franchitti on the same team, wow. I guarantee you Michael Andretti is crying being stuck with Patrick, Mutoh (because they bring sponsorship/money) and his SON all of whom are no threat to win a championship next year and no help to Kanaan with car set-up which is why I feel Kanaan and the entire team has struggled this year because they miss Franchitti's set up information! This is also great for Panther Racing as Dan Wheldon is still one of the best oval racers on the planet and he is getting better on road courses, but all Panther will care about is WINNING at least one oval race next year and Dan should win at least one.
BTW, Ganassi has won the IRL and Grand-Am championships this year and now has the best driver lineup in open wheel racing, period. Now all he needs is a good veteran driver to help Juan with car set up in cup.

I thought Franchitti said after he left for Nascar that the IRL was going nowhere.

Ganassi is sinking like an anchor in NASCAR. Half his sponsors were leftovers from the Sebates era. Texaco, Coors light, they're all tired of his obnoxious, greater than thou, noone knows better than I attitude. Just a matter of time before Target says goodbye and that will be the end of CGR as we have known it. Roger Penske can again be proud of the class in the paddock and open wheel will return as the greatest racing in the world. And by the way, Chipper, Grand Am is a joke with 90% of the field paying to drive 450 hp ARCA cars with "sports protype" glass hung on them.
