Why Are ALMS Yellows So Long?

I was watching Indycar qualifying and watched safety crews take cars off course in a matter of which allowed qualifying to continue in less then 5 mins (well a short time). Watching the ALMS race some races and here were are waiting for nearly 15 mins while they take a car off course. Why are ALMS cautions so long? I know the Audi hit the tire wall hard but it seems that even something as easy as a dead car on course takes equally just as long for the crews to get that car out of danger's way. Maybe ALMS officials needs to take a chapter from Indycar or are they all the same safety crew?

Maybe there was more involved than what the TV showed?

maybe the crews in Detroit are just that slow. Maybe its the weekend. When first reports of Pruett's accident in NJ came out it was reported that it took a long time for crews to arrive at the scene.
I agree some of the yellows were way too long. How long did they show that GT40 sitting there by itself on the track?
Don't think its the ALMS, its the crews that actually have to go out on the track.

That safety car for the Ford GT lasted way too long. They didn't really show what was going on so there is no way to know what the holdup was but it really was excessive.

Because it was a stalled car requiring a flat tow. There was no debris and no track damage. No matter what caused the delay (broken tow truck, bad recovery crew, etc.) it was still excessive.

So now you know what the problem was?

Yes, I can see that.
I don't know what the problem was with the recovery. I just know what caused the yellow. Whatever the problems were recovering the car they caused an excessive full course caution and it shouldn't have happened.
That any clearer?

Actually, I'm not confused at all. Why don't you just say that in your opinion the yellow period(s) are too long (for the information you have from the TV)? I'm quite positive clearing the car/debris is not as simple as it seems on TV.

Errr... I said that in my first post (or did you think I was giving someone else's opinion?).
Clearing a disabled car and be simple or complex, depending on the situation. The stranded Ford GT was a simple recovery.
I think you're back to being confused.
