I was saddened to hear of the passing of Phil Hill today. While I was too young to have been around when he was racing, including his fantastic championship in F1, his significance wasn't lost on my generation. The work he did in restoring fine autos, his writing (particularly in R&T;) and his general low key, affable personality all continued to build on his racing legacy. Outside of all that, he seemed like a genuinely nice man, one you'd love to just sit down with and listen to his stories...which, given his modesty, you'd probably have to prod him to get!
Godspeed to our country's first World Champion.

Awesome photograph! Based on the front stripes that looks like a Cooper Climax. Can someone confirm that.
