Since we're not posting much, I read this on netautos.com and found it to be an interesting question: What's the minimum speed for a Supercar? Over 200 mph? All about looks top speed optional? Must take corners at 5G's?

What do you guys think?

That is an interesting question. My answer is much less interesting: I have no idea.

So many factors could enter into the definition of a "supercar" . . . would the newest Rolls Royces qualify as "supercars"? Would a car that can do "only" 198 mph be disqualified? If all you're looking for is a top speed number, I guess you can set it wherever you like. Likewise a G-number for cornering, or a dollar figure for price. Looks is a bit more subjective . . . for instance, not everyone thinks the Bugatti Veyron is good-looking. I guess it's like the Congressional definition of pornography - we can't exactly define what it is, but we know it when we see it!

In my opinion minimum speed of a supercar is not an issue, I could imagine a "supercar" with electronically limited speed to 150 mph with no problems.
I think a supercar needs 1) to look as a supercar 2) to be priced as a supercar 3) to be produced in very low numbers.

Minimum speed really doesn't matter to me because IMO there are no supercars.
Growing up in the 60's we were told by the turn of the century there would be flying cars. To me that would be a supercar. 8 years later and what we have available to us are superjunk cars. Plastic overpriced pieces of ####.
When cars can fly as was promised, that'll be the advent of the supercar and I'm buying one. Till that time, '78 Chrysler K car or new Bugatti Veyron 16.4, they're all #### cars if they can't fly.

A supercar is whatever you want it to be; to me its just how i feel about it when im driving. no one in their right mind would call my Firebird a supercar, but try telling me that when im driving it up Highway 9.

I think it is a combination of speed, acceleration, luxury, technology, style, sound and cost...

E.G. a supercar must be extraordinarily fast so in the current scheme of things, I'd say at least 300km/h or 186mph.

It must accelerate to 100mph in under 10 seconds.

There can be no lack of all the "bells and whistles" and all materials and components in the interior must be of the highest quality...this disqualifies car that are just street licensed race cars.

The car must have either classic beauty or outrageous style and cannot possibly be mistaken for anything other than what it is.

When you hear it accelerate away, the hairs on the back of your neck MUST stand.

It must be priced so as to be unobtainable to all but the upper .00001% of the population...nothing plebian about a supercar.

So, does that settle it? LOL

I think that covers it.

Is there such a thing called Hyper-Cars? Cars maybe one step above Supercar and what would be its minimum speed?
