Joe Gibbs Racing announced today that The Home Depot will continue its sponsorship of the Sprint Cup #20 Toyota team in 2009 and beyond, and that Greg Zipadelli, crew chief of the #20 Home Depot Toyota Sprint Cup Series for the past 10 years, will remain atop the pit box as Logano’s crew chief.
Logano will make his NASCAR Spirit Cup series debut on Sept. 6 at Richmond International Raceway in a Home Depot sponsored car featuring a reverse color scheme and bearing the #02.
I think this goes to show there are not many drivers to choose from for a Cup ride.....As it stands right now,Logano cant even run at Daytona or Talladega in 09 in either NNS or NSCS

do you really think JGR won't get Logano approved between now and Daytona next year?
It's not a matter of not being many drivers to choose from, it's a matter of seeing promise in a young talent. There were no other drivers courted or even considered for the seat. Once Tony made his announcement, everyone in the racing world knew what was about to transpire.

Joey is running an Arca race at Dega later this year so he'll be able to run Daytona next year.
It is going to suck seeing that 20 Home Depot car next year with Zippy and all the same crew guys on it and knowing that Tony isn't the guy driving it.

There's also a Daytona ARCA race during Speedweeks, I wouldn't be surprised to see Joey run that too.

Zippy could've gone with Stewart if he wanted to but he decided to stay put with JGR for the sake of his family.
Joey's got the potential to be great and Zippy has championship experience so if the pieces fit together then they'll be good next year.

With Zippy's experience and Logano's talent, it may be a very long year for those of us with a favorite driver that isn't driving the #20 Home Depot Toyota next year. AA JMHO

No I dont think there will be a problem for Joey Getting approved for Daytona or Dega....Just making the point that as of now he cant....
And I also agree that his Promise and young talent are unmatched in nascar...But my point was even if JGR wanted to hold Joey back to get a full year of NNS before a full year of NSCS. who else would you put in that car..... I cant think of anyone other then Joey, There is not much unsigned talent left in Cup racing......
RPR is tryed to get Brad Keselowski for the 12 car next year, What Talent is left?

Oh great another kid with no Cup experience. Gibbs must have a slight case of dementia.

Yes ... he has no talent-spotting experience whatsoever. His track record in this area clearly demonstrates that.
