First time I saw Paul Newman was in one of those Bob Sharp Datsuns at Laguna Seca. The last time I saw him he was riding a scooter in the paddock at San Jose. Glad he has gotten that one last ride, I bet it felt great.
"Winning"!? Heck no. I mean, good acting, but not a great movie. No, to see Newman at his finest, check out "Cool Hand Luke." Best way to remember him.

Not to step on anybody sentimental about track names, but maybe they should rename Lime Rock (or another track) after him someday. I think that has a nice ring to it: "Paul Newman Race Park"
+100000000,
It should be Lime Rock as it was his home track and they should do it now, while Paul is still with us.

That would be a great tribute to the accomplished actor and race car driver. Paul has fulfilled everything throughout his life and a low key person.

This is the first I heard of Newman getting his laps. I welled up reading the article. I got to meet Paul Newman when I was 8 years old in 1984, back in the day when CART raced in the old back parking lot of Caesar's Palace in Vegas. I walked up to Mr Newman and asked innocently for an autograph. He squatted down, put his arm around me, and said, "I'm sorry, but I don't sign anymore. But I'll take a picture with you," as he saw my camera. It wasn't until later that I found out why he didn't sign anything anymore (he was approached by a fan who slipped a piece of paper and pen under the bathroom door to him at a race). No matter, I ended up getting a facsimile of his signature from his salad dressing bottle. God Bless and Keep You Paul Newman! You're an asset to racing as well as the silver screen!
