Thanks guys... New Jersey... hell of a haul. Whatcha guys riding in on? My biggest concern is coming through Chicago... a 1098 puts out more heat than any bike I've ever seen or heard about. My leg burns 24/7 and that downtown traffic may be a problem. I swear my pants will start on fire. But I may get lucky and have it overheat before then, lol. I need to find some foam to sit on though too. The seat is a half inch thick and the riding position is pure track bike. Gonna be hard, and I hope I'm up to it. My buddy is gonna be on a ZX-14 right next to me the whole way... with that cushy seat and relaxed riding position... Jealous! I need a cruiser??? Nah. 186 mph will be better... JK!
Googlemaps says ~700 miles direct. We're taking an extra day or two on the way out so we can go down thru WV, NC & TN, then come back up. Its a vacation, right? I'll be riding my trusty R1100S BoxerCupRep.
Tip on the seat; get one of those Alaskan Buttpads. They are worth it.

Forget that cruiser talk, sport-tourers are where its at.

Actually, I'm looking to add a custom chopper to the mix. About 130 cubes of straight pipe thunder. All black with a satin polish on the motor, or a chrome motor with a platinum paint. Jockey shift, straight bars, pure badass. Sorta like Raikkonen's custom Walz Hardcore machine. Would go together like peanut butter and jelly with the Ducati... So... no cruiser for me... maybe in 30 years. Ducati forever on my end though. Gotta go big! 160 hp, twin, 10,700 redline, 381 lbs, that look... it's like friskyness with wheels. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll be driving out from Albany, NY on Thursday. No room for my girlfriend or baggage on my RC51 (Sato Banzai pipes and no passenger pad). Besides a 300 mile day leaves my knees in a world of hurt I don't want to think about a 700+ mile day. Twice.

Well, my plans to go to the race are falling through quickly. The person that was coming with me had to bail. Fortunately, I hadn't bought tickets (I was going to get general admission anyway).
10 hour drive solo is not sounding too appealing right now.

I got tickets a year ago being
almost 100% sure the person I was going to go with would bail. Sure enough, he did. Meanwhile, I got my grandstand seat.

No, the dragon is for squids and suckers that don't know their way around. There are tons of roads down there that are just as good, but aren't as publicized or patrolled.
I still have an extra Penthouse B ticket if anyones interested. Im almost ready to sell it at a loss so pm me with an offer.

It will be an awesome weekend for you guys & gals..Enjoy ! I wonder if they'll have a Marquee with bands and beer etc.? like in Europe...probably not...
