From this week's Autoweek....

Panther Racing was supposed to test Anthony Davidson who has been in Formula One the last several years at Infineon, but injured his shoulder mountain biking. Thus Panther tested Mike Conway instead.

I like Ant - it would be cool to see him in IndyCar.

It would be great to see him racing here, he would at least do well on the road courses.

But he could be out for a while now, I hurt my shoulder biking 9 weeks ago and am still recovering.

There's been an article on SPEEDtv.com saying that "The Ant" was in Detroit watching the Indycar race and well be battling with fellow countryman Conway for that Panther seat. I like Davidson and I hope he well find a seat in Indycar though I still wished race teams would look at Indycar's ladder series or domestically for riders rather then overseas but that's racing for you.

From an F1 seat to "battling" for a job with Panther ? Oh dear. Not quite where he wanted to end up, I'm sure.

Notice both drivers in question are British Nationals.. I sense a British sponsor hovering somewhere in the wings and being behind this forward push. Davidson is lightning quick -- I don't see how Conway has a prayer of matching him. Conway's only hope (imho) realistically is that he can raise more money than "Little Ant."

But, you're right there are some fantastic American drivers and other nationals pushing hard in the American jr. leagues.. I hope after hope that the best of them can find there way into IndyCar seats.. I hope Tags can keep the Conquest ride., and that maybe, Rafa Matos can replace Jaime Camara for next year. That would be cool.

More than them being British, notice their both have heavy ties with Honda [Conway as a test driver, Davidson as a former tester/Super Aguri].

With both being mentioned at Panther, I'm starting to believe that Panther is looking for some Honda money to go along with a driver.

He is still supposed to test with Toro Rosso so his F1 dreams aren't dead. Yet.

Panther, truth be told, is a better ride than Minardi or Super Aguri, who Davidson raced for previously.
