Hi, my name is Mike Burch from Upper Peninsula Michigan. I read Kenny Wallace's article on SpeedTV.com about the penalties. First off I don't condone cheating, though I do appreciate the genius of the NASCAR crews to find more speed/horsepower within NASCAR's rules. Jeff Gordon’s Jurassic Park Winston Select car is a great example! Sterling Marlins #4 Kodak car on the Daytona & Talladega back in the day is another. Sterling's dominance at Daytona & Talladega back then is why I fell in love with NASCAR! To me that is NASCAR racing at its finest! The ingenuity that went into those cars should be rewarded!!! I say if one team or manufacturer finds and advantage (within NASCAR's rules), more power to them! I say to the other teams & manufacturers STEP IT UP and figure out what those guys are doing! Otherwise, enjoy watching their rear bumpers until you do!
NASCAR has become kind of boring and way too much like IROC. I say reward the talent, whether it is an exceptional driver or the genius that finds that extra speed or horsepower. If someone is beating the pants off of everyone else because they found an extra 20 horsepower, GREAT! That is exciting and personally I want to watch them whoop everyone else until they can step it up!
There is a line in the article that says, "They want the race outcome to be decided by drivers, cars, pit stops and teams and not by horsepower." Horsepower is the most exciting part about NASCAR! Please add horsepower to the equation of drivers, cars, pit stops and teams! It was also said in the article that NASCAR doesn't like someone to have a gross advantage because it interferes with their show. I say that is when the show gets exciting! I say stop catering to the crybabies (the Hemis always beat us, BOO HOO) and lets see what these boys can do! Then I will be glued to the screen every weekend for every lap!
Bottom Line the guys on the JGR crew shouldn't have to have placed a magnet on the back of the gas pedal for fear their horsepower would be taken away. They should have been comfortable with leaving it off, showing their extra horsepower and received Kudos for finding it!
That’s my take for what it is worth.
Than You for your time,
Mike Burch

I'm puzzled. Why is this marked as a 'CUP:' article when in fact this is an issue with JGR's Nationwide series cars? Need to wake up the editors and proof readers here.
