Dave,
I've always thought of your show as more informative than educational, but I am now changing my mind after the in depth Yiddish lesson that one of your callers sneaked into the show Sunday night. Just kidding. The only other time I have heard that many expressions strung together was the old Mike Myers routine about Barbara Streisand on Saturday Night Live.
Can someone explain to me how putting magnets under the gas pedal alters dyno horsepower readings? Sounds far fetched to me.

If there are magnets under the pedal, it won't go to the floor. Maximum horsepower is made at wide open throttle. The only significance of using magnets is that they stick to the pedal. Just a makeshift throttle stop.

OK, I can understand that they were just throttle stops. Thanks for the explanation. I thought they were somehow trying to alter the electronic signals to the dyno readouts, and i couldn't figure out how that scheme could possibly work. Seems incredible that they thought no one would notice the drop in rpm's or look down the carburetor throat and notice the butterfly not fully open, but I guess that is 20/20 hindsight on my part.

I love RM! I know he can get pretty far out in left field sometimes, but that is part of his “harm”. You may have him on your show as often as you want. By the way, I loved (and hope he is right) his comments about Jeff Gordon being the new (or next) Kyle Petty.
