I tried to start this last year, and it failed miserably. So, If your interested, send me a PM, and if there is enough interest, I'll set up the league.

Not sure if I have the attention span to commit to a league, but if there's enough interest maybe count me in.

Most likely not though, I'm using this thread as a place to vent my frustration over the whole Green Bay / Favre saga.

As both a Favre and Packer fan, I'm disgusted things played out the way they did. I just don't get why the Packer management wouldn't want him back. I understand they want to move on and get Rodgers in there, and the sooner the better. But the fact of the matter is, Brett right now (or rather, would have if he hadn't been traded), gives us the best chance. Rodgers is still an unknown at this point. It's a coaches (and management) job and responsibility to field the better player. There was some recent reports that the position would be open and given to the best, but not after all this had been dragged out and many bridges burned. Favre shouldn't have been given the spot automatically, they should have had to compete for the starting job. Where the Pack screwed up was in essentially saying, without question, if he was on the team, he'd be on the sidelines holding the clipboard. Now of course, Favre is no angel in all this either. The stringing them along, his indecisiveness, and his many other actions make him just as guilty in mind. (As well as being willing to be traded in the first place.)

As I said, Rodgers is still for the most part an unknown. However, I don't hold ANYTHING against Rodgers, and I'll root for him, and almost feel sorry for him. If Brett had just stayed retired, and Rodgers did poorly, he wouldn't have to deal with the ****storm that is going to ensue as badly as he will now. If he does bad, the management will bear much of the brunt of the criticisms, but much of it will also be directed directly at Rodgers. He seems to have, for the most part, handled the situation pretty well though. Admittedly, I haven't really heard much from him regarding the situation, so maybe I just missed something. But if he has remained rather quiet, it's probably best just to be quiet in the situation anyway.

Anyway.... as pissed as I am at both the Pack and Favre, I'll get over it. Hopefully the Pack will do well this year, and I hope Rodgers has a great season. As much as I'd almost like to see him have a bad season, and Brett have a fantastic one to really show the idiocy of the Packers decision, I can't bring myself to actually desire that scenario, as that would betray my love of the Packers in general. At times I have admittedly seen the world through prescription 4 glasses more so than green and gold tinted glasses, but when it comes down to it, I have to root for the Packers over Favre. So best case scenario, both Rodgers with the Packers, and Favre with the Jets do well.

Hopefully all this doesn't tarnish Favre's legacy too much. I hate to mimic the "he looks like a kid out there" you hear so much of, but it was truly always fun to watch him play. His enthusiasm for the game was unrivaled, and he wasn't in it for the money as much as other players are (that's not to say he didn't try to get every last cent though - but I think him turning down 20 million to NOT play really says a lot about his desire and enthusiasm to play). Though part of his problem is his desire to play outweighed his loyalty to the Packers. Of course, the Packers didn't show much loyalty to him either (and of course, you can argue whether any TEAM owes any INDIVIDUAL player loyalty in the first place). Yeah, he had his problems, namely his vicodin addiction, but he came out and admitted his problem, and set to right the situation which he did. I would also claim a pain killer addiction (especially for someone who played through injuries as much as he did) was a bit more of an "acceptable" mistake than some of illicit drug use problems other players have had. I'm not saying it makes it okay by any means, but to me it's not the same as a player getting caught with crack or something.
