Give me all the FIM motorcycle racing - all classes - live, even if it means showing it at odd times like live Formula One. Keep the superb coverage of Formula One as is.

Show as much live AMA racing as possible - in fact any motorcycle racing with the possible exception of the proposed dumbed-down dmg stuff such as "daytona superbike" and even MotoST. No one wants to watch boring jive that reeks of nascar. However, if it helps displace or eliminate stupid reality programming and non-stop repetitive nascar drivel, bring it on.

Live coverage of sports cars, with a heavy favor toward ALMS over Rolex Series.

All the NHRA and other pro drag racing that can be obtained - again, live when possible.

Any open-wheel racing - live, of course - and high-level dirt racing such as sprinters.

Most of all, I wish they would ditch the lowbrow stuff like lowriders and unique whips and wreckers and pinks - do away with all the reality-style timewasters. Oh yeah, and back way off on the nascar stuff - I mean, how much needs to be said about this form of racing.

In truth, my choice would be to create a seperate channel that would lump together all the reality jive and nascar - and show nothing but real racing on SpeedTV.

Other than everything above, I don't have any opinions - anyone at Speeed listening???

not a chance my friend. you, i, and a few hundred other people have made this same argument on these boards, but to no avail.

even though you, i, the other disgruntled folk, and the bean-counters at FOX know that if they did exactly as you suggest and spun off an all-racing channel, THEY COULD !!$$$CHARGE FOR IT$$$!! AS A PREMUIM CHANNEL AND MAKE MORE THAN ENOUGH TO RECOUP WHATEVER LOSSES THEY'D INCUR!!!, they won't do it.

if i could find a way to get the ITV feed, i'd block speed from my cable. i love the three amigos and their coverage, but peter hamilton and the rest of the crap speed pulls are enough to make one sick.

I want to see:

Isle of Man TT
All of the 1000K races
More touring car type stuff (this is what's replaced nascar for me)
WRC..man I miss this stuff.
Targa racing.
Historic Events.
A show that would compete with Top Gear on the BBC. (If you are not watching this your missing out.)
Some coverage of Gumball and Bullrun.

I think they could find plenty of other things to air than some of the crap (personal opinion only) that they currently run.

For smoe of us, World RAlly is the most difdicult racing on planet earth to do and therefore more fun to watch. And I have fond memories of the Tourist Trophy. What burns me even more is the junk that replaced it. The PINKS, the Truck U, and the like would be better suited to the likes of Spike, not a network supposedly dedicated to racing.

Yeah...I had withdrawals from WRC.

Currently on Speed Truck U then Chop Cut Rebuilt then On The Edge (featuring flag pole racing and demolition derby)then Monster Jam!!!

While I know that my wants should not dictate what is on Speed but I would love to know who thinks the shows listed above that are currently
on Speed today are good entertainment or even exciting. Please explain the appeal. Am I alone?

You betcha.
Great discussion.
I DO remember the promise of SpeedVision and rooting for trials riders and courses. I think SpeedTV's difinitive break with that promise was when they dropped WRC.
But look at all the GREAT ideas already shared.
Yes to all and more;
rock climbing
race planes, RC race planes
local, regional and national SCCA asphalt, dirt, ice, jello...
Karting and quarter midgets ("Where It All Begins") in US, EU, S.Am.,etc.
Silver Crown (sponsored by Hungry Man)
Off Shore boats
MUD!
Performance driving school features from Bondurant, Barber, Baker etc.
Endurance Rallys
School Bus Figure 8, etc. from Rockford, etc.
Stunt Driver U. with David Stremme
Who's got ideas for winter?
I LOVE this discussion!
Yes, widening the field of fan participation shows would be great, especially if fans actually GOT the chance to participate more than they currently do.
But, as another thread has been investigating, we really have little if any idea of what drives these decision-makers, other than to understand that it is not us race fan/consumers. It is difficult to divine how low budget, guitar screeching, personality profiling is superior to low budget racing action even (or perhaps especially) if the production quality leaves something to be desired. It certainly isn't, or need not be, cost.
But, hey, hope springs eternal and it is GREAT to dream of good things.

I think that Fox/Speed has numerous programs in the Fox and Fox affiliated cable channels such as Ice Road Truckers that would be fine on Speed. They have something, vaguely, to do with wheels and engines so they should fit right in and since they were already produced would not cost the station much to air. For that matter they now have a fair library of old episodes of shows they canceled, like Setup, that they could bring back for very little cost.

From the posts I've seen throughout this forum there is a substantial crowd that would like more cr#p.

I don't know why I am wasting my time; as a SPEED viewer since the beginning I have become nothing but frustrated and disappointed at the lack of real racing year after year no matter how many of us complain!

What I want is very simple;

1. Racing and more racing ... less so called reality fodder. Much, much less PINKs of any sort or NOPI anything, Unique Whips (Castro is an idiot), Two Guys Garage, Chop cut & rebuild, Lucas Oil, Livin the low life, and the rest of this type of garbage. I want more racing pure and simple. Start another channel for this crap ... you could call it NOSPEED or RACELESS for example.

2. Replays of shows should be based on the viewership of the show ... the more viewers the more replays. Thus, more F1 rebroadcasts and less of the junk that doesn't cost SPEED that much to produce (PINKS, etc.). It's a shame that we can watch the same episode of WRECKED six times in one week while we are usually limited to only one broadcast of motorsports' premier racing series ... F1 (and it isn't just Bernie's greed that is the problem in rebroadcasting F1 races and quali). For that matter, FIM World Superbike (which surely cannot have the viewership of F1) has regular rebroadcasts and so does the Craftsman Truck Series.

All in all, SPEED should be ashamed of itself and should consider changing its slogan "We're not listening because we have our heads up our asses!"

Maybe it is time for a SPEEDTV II channel much as ESPN did sometime back. It's perhaps unfair but I often think of SPEEDTV as the NASCAR channel. We may be in the minority but F1, sports cars, GT cars, and WRC racing do get a lot less coverage than they should. I agree with other posters about having more actual racing and less (a lot less as in no) reality shows. The live talk shows are okay but they're also overdone.

I'd also like if the directors would consider having more racing between the commercials breaks. Watching the same ads over and over again is really aggravating. I understand that reducing the advertising is economically unfeasible, but maybe they could come to an agreement with their clients about saturating the broadcasts. And cutting to a bunch of commercials with only 5 minutes to go shows that racing is not really understood by the management of SPEEDTV.

So much for my rant.
