I asked this question on other forums but I wanted to know the age range for sport car racing fans as well. Maybe even tell us when you first started following sport car racing whether it was the old Trans Am days, Can Am, World Challenge , whatever...Thanks!

Given the hair coloring, ED, prostate and other plumbing drugs advertisements during the ALMS network broadcasts I'm guessing this will skew a little toward the high side.

1982 12 hours of Sebring. I was 8 and hooked on racing ever since. I may have been to a short oval race or two before that but, Sebring is what did it.

Heck, where ain't that stuff advertised these days???!!!
(allright, maybe Saturday a.m. 'toons...)
ABCs live coverage of the first and last hour of Le Mans in '65 hooked me on road racin', both sportscars and open wheelers (having followed the staple U.S. racin...drag, indycars, and stockcars 'til then) I now knew there was braking and turning both directions in racing.

I think when coming back from commercial they'd have some in-broadcast "brought to you by" spots with the mentioned products; that's crossing a line. "The American Le Mans Series brought to you by Flomax (not a performance exhaust system for cars)".

Boy they haven't done "brought to you by" spots in forever. On the other hand I remember the Mclaren Can Am cars and how Donahue stood everybody on their collective ear with the Porsche at Road America.

My Dad started taking me to the 24 Hours of Daytona in the mid 70's. That did it for me.

Since the 1970 Six-Hour at Watkins Glen. Gulf Porsche 917's battling Mario in a Ferrari 512...then the very next day Siffert in that same 917 running 2nd to Denny Hulme's McLaren in the Can-Am race.

Guess I'm a young'n around here @ 20. Only been following sports cars since the late 90's, but quickly have moved to the top of my racing preferences.

I here ya. I'm only 22. Started watching sports car racing on Speedvision back in the day, probably around 1998/99. Always loved the idea of seeing production based cars, purpose built GT cars and prototypes all racing at once in the ALMS and Grand Am.
Also, it was around that time I really took a liking to Touring cars and other types of GT and Touring car series. Up until then, I was mainly a wide eyed motorsports fan stuck in a Nascar child's body. I still love Nascar and stockcar type racing mind you, just, back around that time, my young eyes became privy to some more good stuff that goes fast.
