I remember there was a rule about it because Robby Gordon was penalized for it at Bristol before (2002?). I'm not sure if the 2nd place starter can't pass the polesitter or if the person on the outside can't pass the person on the inside.

so if the pole sitter spins his tires or misses a shift, then what? do they all slow down and wreck? green flag waves and folks are going- period.. it's going to be a few before the spotter can help them if the pole sitter has an incident.

That's what I was thinking about. I guess it's a judgment call by NASCAR.

he was, Sho.. no doubt about it.. bad luck struck Carl once again though.. the "traction control" comment was more of a jab than a serious comment.

Finally a voice of reason.
Can you believe how short this thread is and how fast it has fallen off the front page.Seems like some dont want to talk about the race, and the few that do just want to start a new conspiracy about jumped starts.
Where is the many fisted one,he had a good laugh when Nascar tried to drag Toyota down to the competitora level

He'll be along directly with a 2 line black helicopter report on how the 18 figured out a way to disguise David Hyder's hobby shop rocket fuel oxygenator ... something like that. The report will be followed by a picture of Comic Book Guy and a size large HA HA!

Then their next move is to just go to one engine. Doesn't matter what make the engine is, the cars look the same to make it all the same. The big problem is NASCAR doesn't care about the racing anymore. All they care about is the show. If they cared about the racing and the competition then they would not be catoring to everyone that cries foul when on team gets and advantage and hamdicap that team just so the others don't have to work to catch them.

Now, that's quality. Clearly Gibbs is being handicapped because others don't want to work to catch them. Never mind the dyno charts, or the fact that Chevrolet would easily be close in horsepower numbers if NASCAR would approve their R07 for the Nationwide Series. It's as simple as that. NASCAR allowed Toyota to utilize new technology, but would not approve other manufacturers' engines with the same technology.
I think they should go to one toyota engine without restrictor plates and just put name decals on the cars paint them all the same color, let the drivers pick the colors for the numbers. use the toyota engines because they will be the only motors that can go real fast so the races can be exciting.
